Pwnage 2.0.2 to be released tomorrow (Friday).
Well, it seems that the DevTeam updated their blog with some new info and it seems that Installer 4.0 will make the cut!! YAY! However, it does mean that we will have to wait another day for the release of Pwnage 2.0.2.
“We’ve just had word that our friends at RiPDev almost have Installer 4 (Beta) ready for public beta release, with that awesome news we’ve decided to include it in the PwnageTool 2.0.2 release, we are waiting for the software from them and we need to quickly test and add a small couple of changes that go alongside Installer.
Usually we don’t give release dates, this is so we don’t feel pressured into releasing something if it isn’t ready, or we can hold off if something comes up in the last minute (last time this was the addition of the 3G jailbreak), today we thought we were releasing, and you guys seemed restless (we read the comments) so we said “sometime today”.
We think the Installer 4 beta is big news, and I’m sure lots of you guys want it and because of this the release should now take place sometime tomorrow (Friday), we want to do all this in one hit, we don’t want to make two releases in two days (we all have day jobs too!), and besides the work has already begun to prepare PwnageTool for Installer 4, people will always say “you should have done this” and “you should have done that”, but we think that this is the best way to lighten the load on our servers and more importantly team-members while still giving you guys all the features you want.
We don’t want to keep you guys refreshing and commenting to ask where the latest update is, so we thought we’d just tell you now.
This release will of course include the new release of cydia that has bugfixes and new features.
Please don’t wait up for us, PwnageTool 2.0.2 with shiny new stuff is coming very soon.”

Aug 07, 2008 @ 21:23:39

Yeah brooke you should give us windows users the pwned ispw’s when its is out.

sorry guys, just another reason to make the switch to Mac!!
Aug 07, 2008 @ 23:01:47
Can I borrow $2000 for the switch? If not I guess I will just wait the extra couple of days.
Aug 07, 2008 @ 23:22:50
loaded macbook only 1500
Aug 08, 2008 @ 01:13:21
Can someone loan me $1500? Thanks in advance.
Aug 07, 2008 @ 23:43:26
Yeah i hope windows comes out after mac comes out winpwn…. and why is it call Installer 4.0 Beta why???
Aug 08, 2008 @ 00:52:20
I’m sticking with cydia, personally
Aug 08, 2008 @ 01:01:02
What I wanna know is how many repositories are going to be attached to Installer 4.0 Beta debut. Or, will there be more than just a small handful of repositories that we can get elsewhere as well?
And I have yet to figure out why people haven’t made the switch to mac yet. It just make things a whole lot easier. And you can’t beat not having to worry about spam, viruses, crashes, etc. I don’t have to spend money on software to protect my computer. Need more reasons to switch? Let me know, I got a whole list of them.
Aug 08, 2008 @ 01:31:14
TJ, when you write your ultimate list of reasons why every one should be on MAC, let me know and I am sure I can also give you a few reasons!! I keep having friends and colleagues complain about windows and when I tell them why I use a Mac, they nod their head in agreement, then spend another £300 ($600) on a peice of gates junk
Aug 08, 2008 @ 17:46:35
it’s Mac, not MAC…
it’s not an acronym like PC
btw, macs rock!!!
and TJ, the bigger reason is that Macs are too expensive and unfortunately, some people just want to stick with the stuff they know (aka Windows)
Aug 08, 2008 @ 19:29:05
I agree, Macs can be a little expensive. In the long run though, with PC you are spending just as much. The cost of security, maintence, software, etc. Really, you are spending just as much, if not more. The only real reason I see in having a PC is for gaming and that is it. Fir everything else, I’d use a Mac. Sure people are just sticking to what they know, but by the time they realize the truth, it’s too late. Change can be a great thing, and I’ve made my change back in Sept. 2007. And I’m not going back to PC. It pisses me of that I have to use a PC at work. LoL.

Honestly, if you were to compare everything item by item that’s built into a Mac, including free software, it would cost you as much if not more to have Dell package the same altogether. Eg: camera, Bluetooth, Airport, Drive and processor , available Windows installation (not an option on PC) Time machine backups, screen size, and so on. I did the comparison, and to build a Dell to match my Mac, would cost me more.

hi guys,
will PwnageTool 2.0.2 allow the SIM unlocking of 1st gen iPhones as well or is only Jailbreaking supported for the time being?
thanks.

i dont think i will update until this can be solved ,, :::(

Hopefully ripdev gives it to the dev team as quickly as they promised. I’m not really interested in it anyway. Cydia is lightyears ahead, it just needs a prettier gui.
Aug 08, 2008 @ 08:54:18
Will this be for firmware 2.01? Does it do a better job of importing png boot splash screens? winpwn can bring in many png files with the correct size limit and res that pwnage cannot. I also like the winpwn internet download feature for boot screens, just a nice extra.
Aug 08, 2008 @ 10:00:29
those of us that have installer 4 already should of noticed that there have been a substantial ammount of sources added to installer, so as far as installer goes, there are a few little bugs left and it will be out of beta, which will hopefully coincide with the release of winpwn
Aug 08, 2008 @ 10:47:58
We should all just upgrade to 2.0.1 firmware and wait till winpwn 2.5

I have a vista-xp-mac-linux quad boot
When this is released, I will upload a custom ipsw file.
It will be for the 3gs with either the old or updated firmware.
If nobody wants to host it, I will gladly upload it to rapidshare.com
It will probably be the usual ~250mb, x2 so I need at least 500mb of storage. I have a web server but I’m not comfortable hosting this with apple’s nonsense.
Aug 08, 2008 @ 19:31:45
wait u mean for a boot logo?
sound lik a legit firmware
post the link here if u do decide to upload it plz
Aug 08, 2008 @ 15:38:26
It turns out I may not be able to do this. I need to download the new Pwnage tool using windows or linux, and apparently you need to update via a previously installed mac version.
If someone wants to upload an updated mac version of pwnage tool, i can then upload the ipsw file.

No pwnage today (Friday). Bug found on intel macs and they are going to sleep on it and work on it tomorrow. Via ipodtouched.net
