Available In: Installer       Price: $20.00-$45.00

Kate I was excited to see Kate was finally available for firmware 2.0 via the Installer. It is a public beta version of the application. I personally am a huge fan of Kate and really miss the features that I use it for. However, when I try to install the app, I get an error. The error says, “Failed script command on line 2: ChangeMode.” Then my iPhone crashed back to the SpringBoard. I was totally bummed…I was looking forward to checking it out. Let me know in the comments if you are getting the same error.

Update:: Below is a list of features that Kate 2.0b4 has. I do think that it is cool that if you previously registered the app, it will carry over to this version of Kate.

All Components:
    • First public beta for firmware 2.0. Can be installed from the repository http://i.ripdev.com/ using Installer 4.
    • All included components reworked to work under 2.0.x with the same functionality. We will expand on the featureset soon.
    • Existing subscriptions will work; you can also request a trial or check your subscription by visiting Settings > RiP Dev > RiP Dev Products preference pane.

Dev TeamWell, it seems that the DevTeam updated their blog with some new info and it seems that Installer 4.0 will make the cut!! YAY! However, it does mean that we will have to wait another day for the release of Pwnage 2.0.2.

“We’ve just had word that our friends at RiPDev almost have Installer 4 (Beta) ready for public beta release, with that awesome news we’ve decided to include it in the PwnageTool 2.0.2 release, we are waiting for the software from them and we need to quickly test and add a small couple of changes that go alongside Installer.

Usually we don’t give release dates, this is so we don’t feel pressured into releasing something if it isn’t ready, or we can hold off if something comes up in the last minute (last time this was the addition of the 3G jailbreak), today we thought we were releasing, and you guys seemed restless (we read the comments) so we said “sometime today”.

Installer Installer 4.0 is still not available for firmware 2.0 however, the RiPDev blog has been recently updated. It doesn’t sound like Installer is going to be available in the near future…maybe a few more weeks but, they are asking repo owners to contact them. Here is what they have to say.

Thank you very much for your support guys. We’re alive, we’re ironing out some stuff (still), and we’re ready to start kicking some serious butt in a little while. :)

Installer The RiP Dev blog has posted an article describing how repos will be structured in Installer 4.0. The majority of us probably will not be extremely interested in this information but, if you have a repo that you would like to have in Installer 4.0, you will definately want to check it out. Below is a snippet of the article. You can get the full article HERE.

Installer 4 uses the new repository structure which is aimed at minimizing the traffic for both repo owner and the user, as well as expands the standard a little bit. It is still good old plists, but for the repo owner perspective, you don’t really have to mock with them… at all :)
