GeoHot Has Another Jailbreak Ready

GeoHot was recently doing a presentation at a conference and talked all about the iPhone exploits. Be ready, he goes into some great detail about it but here’s the key phrase:

“There is also, I hinted to this a couple times, an unreleased exploit in every iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in the bootrom to get code execution. And you know if I ever do another jailbreak, that’s the exploit I have. If you’ve seen I posted like a picture of 4.0 jailbroken. I posted my iPad jailbroken. All before Spirit was released. And I used like a completely different set of exploits which maybe when iPhone 4 comes out will be out.”

Untethered Jailbreak Preview for iPod Touch, 3GS & Maybe iPad

GeoHotGeoHot has done it again. In the video below, GeoHot shows an untethered iPod touch with a background image on the homescreen. He also holds down the home button to activate voice command to show that it’s newer firmware. Next he reboots the device showing that the jailbreak remains. Since he says on his blog that it will “probably” work on the iPad too, he will probably wait to release it when the iPad comes out so Apple can’t make a fix for it before it’s released.

The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too.

Don’t ask about a release date. You won’t make it happen any sooner.

GeoHot Releasing blacksn0w Today

##ICON_NAME## GeoHot will be releasing the blacksn0w unlock today (Novemeber 3rd) instead of the projected release date of November 4th. This is due to the fact that the testing of blacksn0w is going “great.” We will keep an eye out for it. Below is a screenshot of the blacksn0w unlock.

GeoHot Refuses the $10,000

##ICON_NAME## Yesterday, GeoHot posted on his blog that he will not be accepting the $10,000 that was offered to him by Jody Sanders if he were to find an unlock for the 05.11.07 baseband. Not only that but he has a few words for the people who do sell the unlock. Below is what he has to say.

GeoHot Does It! – blacksn0w Unlock Demo Video

##ICON_NAME## GeoHot has done it! He has successfully unlocked the 05.11.07 baseband (let’s hope he gets his $10,000!). The unlock is titled blacksn0w.

The unlock works on both the iPhone 3G and 3GS and will unlock to any carrier. It is estimated to be released on November 4th and sounds like it will be installed via the blackra1n jailbreak. Check out the demo video below.

Blacksn0w Unlock On It’s Way

GeoHot Looking into an Unlock for 05.11.07 Baseband

Quite a few people have been asking GeoHot, the developer of the blackra1n jailbreak, if he is going to look into an unlock… his answer is always a resounding, “No.

However, GeoHot has recently decided to look into an unlock for the 05.11.07 baseband. It seems that Jody Sanders, better known as the guy that sells the Dev-Teams unlocks, has offered GeoHot $10,000 to release the unlock.

If GeoHot does find an exploit for the unlock, it will be released to the community for free however, Sanders will continue to sell support for the the unlock to his customers.

According to GeoHot it should only take him a day or so to find the exploit. He started the search at 10:00pm EST last night.

So far, he still hasn’t found an exploit and is running out of places to look. We will just have to wait and see if he is able to find one!

blackra1n RC2 Released – New Features, Clean Icy

##ICON_NAME## Last night, GeoHot has released blakra1n RC2. The jailbreak offers a few more features such as a tethered jailbreak for out-of-the box 3.1 firmware as well the new iPhone 3GS that ships with the new bootrom. The new version of blackra1n also includes a working version of Icy… the previous version of the jailbreak included an older version of Icy which was causing issues for a lot of people.

You can download blackra1n RC2 at blackra1n.com.. There is both a Windows and a Mac version of the jailbreak. Below is a complete list of new features for blackra1n RC2.

blackra1n Jailbreak Released

##ICON_NAME## A few days ago we told you about GoeHot and that he had found a jailbreak, which he is calling blackra1n, that would work on all devices. Well, last night, he released the jailbreak.

There are a few things to note.

– The jailbreak is for Windows users only. No Mac version yet.

– blackra1n does not hactivate your iPhone (fake activate it). So, in order to use this jailbreak you will need to have an iPhone on an official carrier.

– 3G and 3GS unlockers “do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings.”

– blackra1n does jailbreak the third generation iPod touch however, it is a tether jailbreak. ” In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n.”

– blackra1n should work on devices using firmware 3.0 and up.

Info on purplera1n Jailbreak for 3.0.1 Firmware

##ICON_NAME## Last night, GeoHot updated his blog in regards to the purplera1n jailbreak working on the 3.0.1 firmware. Below is what he had to say.

“Currently, it doesn’t work, and I don’t plan to ever make it work. Apple changed the kernel from 3.0 to 3.0.1, and I patch the kernel in a very specific spot. I code to make things simple, hacky, and fast. Dev codes to make things proper, slow, and complicated; redsn0w works OOTB. I could imagine a tool that takes the best of both worlds. No reason you need to push buttons or give the jailbreak program an ipsw; you can still write something generic that’ll work on every device and version. And be fast. But I’m too lazy to write it. GeoHot, the developer who brought us the purplera1n jailbreak, has released his iPhone 3GS unlock, purplesn0w. Below is what he has to say about purplesn0w and instructions on how to install it. You can view the original post HERE. This unlock is said to fix Wi-Fi, Battery and Unlock failing issues experienced with the ultrasn0w unlock.
