Today iFixit released a teardown guide for the 4th Generation iPod touch. Yesterday in episode 18 of i101 we had mentioned that, according to Apple’s website, the 4th gen iPod touch was going to have a vibrate alert. Today that information is no longer on Apple’s website. It seems that Apple made a slight mistake saying that the 4th gen iPod touch would have a vibrate feature. This was further confirmed by iFixit’s teardown of the device in which they did not find a vibrate motor. Bummer Apple. You can view iFixit’s complete teardown guide HERE.

Another 4th Generation iPhone Found [Video]

Oh boy, here we go again. It seems that another 4th generation iPhone has been found (this time in Vietnam) however, this one seems to be a little more polished and a little closer to the final version of the 4th gen iPhone. Unlike the one found in Cali, this one does not have the screws in the bottom next to the speakers and has all the info on the back of the iPhone (it seems to be a 16GB version).
Below are a few pics via Gizmodo and a video showing more of the detail of the iPhone. It was found in Vietnam so, I’m guessing the guy in the video is speaking Vietnamese.

The Case of the “Lost” iPhone 4G

So, as many of you well know… Apple’s 4th generation iPhone has made it’s debut a little early. Personally, I’m a skeptic by nature (more on that later) but here is what we know.
Apple employee Gray Powell (Apple Software Engineer working on the iPhone Baseband Software) seems to be the fellow who was once the owner of the lost 4th generation iPhone. On Thursday, March 18th, he was apparently celebrating his 27th birthday at Gourmet Haus Staudt, a nice German beer garden in Redwood City, California (which happens to be just 20 miles from Apple’s Loop headquarters) where he “supposedly” had a few too many of those German ales. blackra1n Jailbreak Released

A few days ago we told you about GoeHot and that he had found a jailbreak, which he is calling blackra1n, that would work on all devices. Well, last night, he released the jailbreak.
There are a few things to note.
– The jailbreak is for Windows users only. No Mac version yet.
– blackra1n does not hactivate your iPhone (fake activate it). So, in order to use this jailbreak you will need to have an iPhone on an official carrier.
– 3G and 3GS unlockers “do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings.”
– blackra1n does jailbreak the third generation iPod touch however, it is a tether jailbreak. ” In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n.”
– blackra1n should work on devices using firmware 3.0 and up.

I must say, I actually chose quite a few of these options. One of the options that was a little low on the list but, I would love to see, is an OLED screen. Probably not going to happen but, a girl’s got to dream. I think we will definitely see More Storage, Faster Processor, More RAM and a 3.2 Megapixel Camera. I would love to see Video Recording, Longer Battery Life, Video Messaging and OLED Screen. I’m not even going to guess on the cosmetic change. I hear it is going to be a big WWDC so, maybe we will see quite a few of these new features! Though, I try not to get my hopes up…it makes the disappointment easier to take! [Read more…]
