3.0.1 Jailbreak Info (via Dev-Team)

3.0.1 Jailbreak The Dev-Team has tweeted that the redsn0w jailbreak does work on the 3.0.1 firmware however, you need to point it to the 3.0 IPSW. They say it even works on the iPhone 3GS and with ultrsn0w. They do not have anything posted on their blog yet. Below is their tweet.

– “Early adopters have found that redsn0w JB *already* works on 3.0.1 (just point it at 3.0 IPSW!) Even for 3GS & ultrasn0w.”

i have fully unlocked and jailbroken all of my iphones (2g, 3g, and 3gs) on 3.0.1 using redsn0w. i used the 3.0 firmware in redsn0w

  4. jumbo says:

Yes it works on iphone 3gs and iphone 2g, I was able to unlock and activate my 2g with redsnow since its not in a data plan which is used by my wife and on 3gs i tried ultrasnow to unlock it just to try it works or not though its in at&t, its working fine like before. Just make sure to use 3.0 firmware while using red0snow.

I decided to try to upgrade my iphone 2G to version 3.0 today of all days and accidentally upgraded to 3.0.1. Now I’m trying to fix it so that I can have 3.0 unlocked. I believe that if I can download the 3.0 firmware I can use redsn0w to install it. I’ve tried twice to download the 229mb .ipsw file however both times when it finished downloading it uncompressed and there was no .ipsw file in there. Can someone give me some tips on what I may be doing wrong?

Dev Team is in Vegas for devcon right so they are busy. Saurik has confirmed this in main screen of Cydia. He also notes that he is working on special project that will simplify upgrading jailbroke phones.

  7. will says:

No kidding what is the hurry to upgrade.. If your phone is jailbroke it is way more vulnerable than the sms exploit with open ssh and all. I will wait untill a real upgrade or phone crashes to restore. If Jay Freeman thinks he can strip it away from the new firmware and install it as patch it is good as gold..

  8. Edden Amber says:

what do they mean “point it to 3.0″?

  9. Alex says:

    Hello ya all

I am new to the change over into the apple world. I see alot of you have control over your Iphones via some sweet looking hackz. I am from the ugly WM world. I can not stand being locked into what I can and can not do.

I read on the site where I got redsn0w from that someone said in comments to clarify, they say it does not work on 3GS Iphone with 3.0.1. I accidently let it upgrade. Like I said I am slow on the uptake and the bloggers boards.

I have run the software and point it at the 3.0 ver and do the button pressing thing, but my phone just shuts off during the home button hold time. Then in order to get the phone to re-power i have to hold both power and home button. The software gets to the part “waiting for re-boot” and the phone is off. So I try re-powering? I don’t seem to see anyone commenting on actually using the 3GS with 3.0.1. Can someone enlighten me in this new world. I am running windows xp on computer.

    Thank you,

    Joe

I am wondering what the difference is from 3.0 to 3.0.1? And why point it to the same 3.0? Does not make any sense to update every time apple asks you to do it,it is not like it will change major features that you already have.

Be happy with what you got,why the need to upgrade all the time.

    Just my two cents.

  14. dmc says:

ok i update my iphone 3g to 3.01. its tricky 1st it wont let me use redsn0w 08 its giving me a windows error tried it for several times. disabled my firewall and anti virus still doing the same windows error message from redsn0w. disconnect my interent and disabled my firewall and anti virus and it work like a charm yahoo…iphone 3g 3.01 baseband still the same 4.26.08. i used redsn0w and iphone restore 3.0. and unlocked my iphone 3g with ultrasn0w works like the devteam says perfect thanks again devteam & morepower. hopefully the battery issue will be resolved. i did not install winterboard i believed that was causing fast battery drain. i followed devteam instruction about do not use the itunes buck-up and create a new one and it works battery doesnt drain too fast. but when i install winterbaord my battery drain fast. i review this twice and did a restore 100% that causing battery drain is winterbaord

  15. Ming says:

it works on 3.01, but some softwares don’t, like Textfree, myphone+. They could detect themselves as cracked version, and direct me to app store.

  16. CB says:

so can some just confirm..b/c i can’t jailbreak after the 3.0.1 upgrade..

After upgrading firmwares, i have to restore the phone again to use the 3.0 restore(creating new iphone user, etc.)? Run redsn0w 0.8 then point to the 3.0 ISPW?

  17. Andrew says:

Surik has said he is working on way to upgrade which would make it easier for already jailbreaked phones. He said come back in a week, but it’s nearly five now and not a word more has been said.

Is he still planning on this or will we be on the next update before it’s ready?

  18. William Ong says:

Hi, is Springdial available for iphone using version 3.0.1? If so, where and hw to download for free. Tks
