The Dev Team has released a video demo of PwnageTool 2.0. It seems that they have been working hard and the results look pretty good. The new GUI interface appears to be simple and user-friendly. Pwnage 2.0 is not available yet however, they say it will be soon. It will including the ability to jailbreak firmware 2.0. YAY! Below is what they have to say and a video demo.
“We’ve added lots of new features, including 2.0 support, spotlight file indexing of .ipsws, canned websearches, installer custom configuration, custom root partitions and various other things that you’ll see on the release. Release date is soon although not this weekend. So check out the video, hopefully it will hold you off until we release.
UPDATE: Please don’t pay close attention to the wording in the popups of PwnageTool as this is mainly placeholder text while we finalize everything for release. PwnageTool works with 2.0 upgraded 1st gen iPhones if they are activated or not.”

are the new 2.0 features enough to make me want to lose all my 1.1.4 jailbroken apps? Not sure. Maybe I’ll use my student discount and get a free 2.0 iPod touch for the appstore.
Yeah i’m the same as you, so far i wasn’t too impressed with App Store but who knows what ill think when a bunch of new apps are released for it.

It will. It just activates and unlocks the firmware.

It will be for both 2nd & 3rd generation. Dev team spent the morning buying new 3 g and report working fine. When this comes installer 4 will be right behind to offer app store and installer side by side. How about that for freedom of choice!
Its 1st and 2nd generation. There is not 3 versions of the iPhone. I hate it when people refer to the 1st generation iPhone as the 2.5 generation. 2.5 only refers to the speed to EDGE. The new iPhone is not the 3rd generation iPhone. It has 3G, but it’s only the 2nd generation.
Any news for 2.0 hack for us windows user? Pwnage is for mac users only right? What will be the pwning tool for us win users? Winpwn? Any news about iliberty+? Ziphone, perhaps?

i agree. a stupid question. all 3g phones only have 2.0 firmware. i think they will probably not work on 1.1.4.

I’ll be patiently waiting a long while until the 2.0 jailbreak comes available and I get the 2.0 fw plus all the apps and other stuff I currently have on my 1.1.4.
If not, I’m way happy with my iPhone just the way it is.

I have a jailbroken/unlocked iphone on 1.1.4, if i restored my iphone and then udated it to 2.0 will i still not be able to unlock it????
If not when should we expect the tutorial on how to jailbreak/unlock iphones for firmware 2.0???

Do you think Apple would let it be unlocked right when you upgrade? Just wait for the tool to unlock and jailbreak, and stop bothering others with your stupd questions.
