Happy Thanksgiving!

##ICON_NAME## Happy Thanksgiving from everyone here at AppleiPhoneSchool.com! We hope you get to spend the day relaxing and spending time with your family (and maybe watching a little football!). Doug and I traveled all last night with the boys to spend Thanksgiving with our families today. We totally used our iPhones to stay entertained during the drive! Doug used GPSTracker to embed our current location on his facebook and our personal website as we drove (and insisted on showing it to me every hour or so!) :) He did have to use Backgrounder to keep it running in the background.

P.S. Any old school jailbreaks remember what application the icon I used for this post is from?? :)

Ocarina There are quite a few cool new things going on over at Ocarina.com as well as with the application itself. For those of you who are not familiar with Ocarina, it is a musical instrument that uses the microphone to detect breath and then uses the iPhone’s touch screen to play different notes (similar to a flute or recorder). Check out THIS POST for more info.

In the last day, Ocarina was updated to version 1.2 adding a very cool, and much awaited, feature…the ability to record your music! Below are the specs we received from Smule and my how-to on how to use the new features. [Read more…]

Pocket Elf – Keep Track of Holiday Spending

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

Pocket Elf Pocket Elf is an application that allows you to keep track of your Holiday spending! I know, it might still be a little early (though, I have already asked for my families Christmas Lists!!), but if you are looking for a way to keep yourself on budget this Holiday season this might just be the app for you. It comes from a developer that many of you may be familiar with. Skylar has also developed PocketTouch, a jailbroke application.

Pocket Elf allows you to set a budget, create a list of friends, assign gifts to your friends (including the amount paid for each gift) and create a list of possible gifts. When you first open the application, you will be on the Budget screen. Here you are able to set your budget and then choose how you would like the budget displayed. The default display is how much of your budget you have spent. The Long Budget Display allows you to see how much of your you have spent so far and what your total budget is. Showing Remaining will display the amount of money still left in your budget. I personally like to turn on both the Long Budget Display and the Show Running options. [Read more…]
