The app for November 18th is “Level”. This is another one of those “It’s about time!” apps. Using the accelorometer in apps for something functional is both creative and benificial. This app turns your iPhone into a level. Just lay your iPhone on the table or put one of it’s edges along a wall and you’ll see the ball move inbetween the two lines as long as you’re level. Simple app & function app. One you can install and keep, not just for fun.

There is an update to VNsea today. Once I get to a PC I will test it out. If anyone else has updated let us know your experience.
I finally had a chance to play with the new Customize (though Doug has already messed with his and wrote a post about it yesterday) but, I just wanted to add a few of my observations. First of all it is AWESOME that the “hide” feature is now working!! Scrolling through pages and pages of apps to find the one I wanted was not working well for me. It also didn’t help that all the apps were randomly placed…but, that is another AWESOME thing…the “organize” feature was also fixed with the update and is working great. One of the things I have found to be slightly difficult in the “new” customize, is scrolling through the apps without accidentally “hiding” one of them. I love that it is as easy as a tap to hide something but, I think it might be a little too easy. I did find a way around this. [Read more…]
The app for November 17th is “Collage”. This app is a combination of a few other apps. It allows you to take pictures or write text and add them to a constant changing collage on the screen. New pics & text fade in as they are created. The author has also added a link to view the collage on the web or digg iApp-a-Day right from the app.
There is an update to Customize today. This update fixes the issues with icon arranging. Interface is much better and hiding apps works by just tapping the app. An icon of an eye appears and dissapears to show the “hidden” status when tapped. So far this is functioning perfect for me. The app for November 16th is “Elmo”. I bet you can guess what this app does. That’s right, it simulates a tickle me Elmo doll. Just tickle elmo and the iPhone vibrates and laughs just like the real doll! A big difference from the original doll is the lack of variety in the laughs. Here’s what it sounds like.

Well…I just had to restore my phone for maybe the third time (bound to happen when you install and uninstall as many apps as I do) though, I do feel that this restore could have been prevented.
This is what happened: I was going through some of the apps on the installer.app and decided to install the TTR alternate color. Well, I was too quick to hit install before realizing that is was a HighTymes app (they are not compatible with 1.1.1 – at least none of the apps we have tried here at AppleiPhoneSchool.com have been – they are probably the cause of at least four restores on our iPhones). I do wish their apps worked better with 1.1.1 because they have some great themes…oops, sorry, that was a tangent! Anyway, I ended up having to restore after watching my iPhone randomly turn on and off and switch through apps beyond my control (click here if you want to see a video of what it looks like).
