Inspell – Autocorrection… add your own to the list!

Available In: Cydia       Price: 2.99

Inspell So the other day when I was typing a text I used “idk” and I noticed that my iPhone wanted to correct it to “I don’t know” and I thought that was odd but carried on. Then a few days later I typed “K I’ll be out in a sec” and it sent “okay I’ll be out in a sec” and that really got me thinking! I figured it had to be something that installed because it had never done this before. Then I remembered that I had recently installed an update to Inspell, an additional spell checker for the iPhone and iPod touch, so I went into my settings to find that Inspell had added this whole list of short hand items to my autocorrections. These, for whatever reason, were set to elongate my short hand. Most of these abbreviations were thing that i would never use anyway… stuff like “imho” “in my humble opinion”. [Read more…]

Blokt – Puzzle Game

Available In: App Store       Price: $o.99

Blokt If you like puzzle games as much as I do, I’m pretty sure you’ll love Blokt. Blokt is a game where there are several different sized rectangles in the way of the red rectangle. The goal is to clear the way for the red to exit the box that the rest are in. The blocks that are pointing up and down can only move up and down and the blocks that are pointing side to side can only move side to side. The concept is pretty simple but then again, so is a rubix cube! That’s pretty much it… there are really no settings to speak of and as far as I can tell everything is pretty self explanatory. Paris “At a Glance” – Everything You Need To Know About Paris

Available In: App Store       Price: $5.99

Paris So when I got Paris “At a Glance” I kinda just figured Paris was just part of the title and that you could put in any city you wanted to and it would bring up points of interest for that area. Yeah, not so much. This app is pretty much everything you could possibly want to know about Paris, France. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. Paris gives you the ability to search pretty much any point of interest in and around Paris. This includes History and Culture, Things to see, Food, Shopping, Lodging, and Nightlife. Once you select a category it brings up a list of interesting places or restaurants or whatever for you to browse through and it also provides ratings out of 3 stars so you know what other people think about that particular attraction. You can also add certain places to a favorites list as you plan your trip. [Read more…]

Finger Twister – The Title Says It All

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

Finger Twister So, I’m sure most of you are familiar with the game that has different colored dots and the spinny wheel that tells you where to place your appendages called Twister. Well this app attempts to capture that same concept minus the spinney wheel. Finger Twister is a 1-2 player game that can be pretty challenging as dots appear and move around to different locations on the screen. The one player mode starts out with one dot and then quickly moves to two and then three. The hard part is remembering which finger needs to move to the next dot and doing so with out lifting any of your other digits already occupying other dots. [Read more…]

Star Guitar – Synthesized Guitar Application

Available In: App Store       Price: $3.99

Star Guitar Star Guitar is a synthesized guitar application. It comes with 23 stock strumming patterns which you can slow down or speed up based on how many BPMs (beats/minute) you have it set at. There are also 3 different types of effects… “Silver” which is an acoustic type sound, “Electro” which is a clean electric guitar sound, and “Jazz” which is similar to “Electro” just with a little more base range. It has the full scale of chords (A-G) except that it’s listed “C,D,E,F,G,A,B” probably because that’s where the scale starts on the piano… who knows? Anyway, you can also choose from a few chord modifications for example: #, b, m(minor), 7th, and Maj(or)/sus4 and you can pile all of these on at the same time if you would like so you could create an “F#m7” or “Am7”<---which for some reason sounds awful btw. You have the option of recording your own songs or song ideas which would be ideal for the singer/song-writer on the fly! Star Guitar also features a metronome which would come in handy if you were not using one of the preset strumming patterns. [Read more…]
