Gowalla 3.0 Integrates Facebook Places, Twitter, Foursquare & Tumblr (Crashing on Jailbroken iPhone)

Gowalla 3.0 now integrates Facebook Places, Twitter, Foursquare & Tumblr. It also has smarter check ins, predicting where you’re located based on your history. I think Foursquare already has that feature using a favorites feature. Another feature to help speed up checkins lets you start typing your message while you’re being located. This helps a lot in towns like mine where AT&T is VERY late to the game in 3G. Our EDGE is SLOW!!!! <--Rant Now, I can't see how this app works yet because it's crashing as soon as I open it. This happened before with a previous release and I'm pretty sure it's because my iPhone is jailbroken. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and doing as some have suggested, removing and re-adding my login info under the settings app. Still not working. [Read more…]

Yowza!! – Location Based Coupons

yowza We recently heard about a pretty cool application called Yowza!! Yowza!! is a location based coupon application. Not only does it display deals that are near your location, it also has the ability to display/scan coupons right on your iPhone or iPod Touch’s screen…which I honestly will have to see to believe but will be totally psyched if it works…I have always wanted to do that!! The app will also allow you to save previously searched for coupons in a “digital wallet” for future use. You can find out more about Yowza!! on their website. There is no ETA on when the app will be available in the App Store, though you can sign up on their website to be notified once it is. We do know that it will be free! So, that is cool!

MCallShow 1.1

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free 15 Day Trial – $4.99

MCallShow There has been another release for MCallShow. I tend to keep an eye on the updates for this application because in the past it has never worked quite right for me so, I like to check out the updates to see if things have improved. MCallShow is an application which gives you more detailed location based information about incoming and outgoing calls. It seems that the user interface has not drastically changed however, the database for the application has changed. It used to be when you opened the app, it would automatically find your local Country. Now it seems that you need to actually install the database for your Country. The current Country databases include, Australia, China, England, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Thailand. There website says that there is also a database for the USA/Canada but, I did not see that is Cydia. [Read more…]

iWant

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

iWantiWant is an application that allows you to look up venues that are near your current location. When you open the application, it will locate your current location. You will then get a screen with 12 icons. There is also a Settings icon and Map icon on the lower part of the screen. The Map option will show the results on a map instead of in a list. In the Setting, you have the option to adjust the search radius from less than a mile to five miles, the ability to sort your search by Rating (based on a five star rating) or Distance and the ability to change the Restaurant filter so that it only searches for a certain type of restaurant near you instead of all restaurants. Once you have all the Settings the way you would like them, select the Done option in the lower left corner.

Now all you have to do is select one of the icons and it will bring up a list of those venues that are with-in 5 miles (that is the distance I chose in the Settings) of your current location. Following is a list of what each icon represents from left to right; [Read more…]

GasBag – Coming Soon

GagBag by jamcode LLC is an application that allows you to search for the cheapest gas based on location. It looks as though you are also able to search by the type of gas you are looking for or by specific gas station. The app is currently in private beta but I’m sure it wont be too long before we see it in the AppStore. It will be interesting to see what database the information is pulled from and how up-to-date it is. If it turns out to be decent…it might be an application that ends up on the “must have” list.

Watch “GasBag” on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

NavizonGPS 2.0.6

NavizonGPS I just realized that we have never done a review of NavizonGPS. So, here is a full review of the application. NavizonGPS is “a wireless positioning system that works a little bit like a GPS, only that it uses Cellular Towers and Wifi access points instead of satellites. In addition to being a wireless position system, Navizon offers cool features like the Directions, Buddy finder, Geotags and many more.”

When you first open NavizonGPS, after installing it, you will need to set-up an account. You will get a pop-up with the options to select Ok to set-up an account or to select Cancel if you already have an account. If you select Ok, it will open a browser in which you can register for an account. After you have created your account, you can go back to the application on your SpringBoard. This time when you open the application, select Cancel. This will bring you to the main menu.

iPhoneLocator 1.1.3d

iPhoneLocatorSS iPhoneLocator is an app that will put your current location and your past nine locations on your Facebook page. It uses cell towers or WiFi to find your location and then displays them in a Google map on your Facebook page. If you have friends that have the application on their Facebook, it will also display where they have been on your map. I have actually been testing this app for quite a while now, however, I didn’t think it worked well enough to post about. But, a few updates later, it is working much better and is really cool! Here is how it works.

1. Go to this url. This will bring you to a screen where you can sign into your Facebook account. It will then open the main page for the iPhoneLocator Facebook app. To add the application to your Facebook page, select Add Application. You can choose the options you want and select Add iPhone Locater. Once you select Add iPhone Locator, it will open the iPhoneLocator Set-up page. You will see, “Setting up your iPhone…” In this section, they will give you a private Repository URL (you will not want to give this to anyone).
