Dev Team has Jailbroke 2.0

Well, it has been said that the Dev Team has jailbroken firmware 2.0. It is not available yet and we have definitly not tested it. So, if you are someone who wants to keep your current jailbroken applications, has an iPhone that is fake activated or has an unlocked iPhone….

DO NOT UPDATE TO 2.0. As Doug mentioned earlier today in his article Warning – Read This Before Upgrading to Firmware 2.0 if you upgrade, you will lose your jailbreak and your iPhone will no longer be unlocked. If it was fake activated…it will pretty much be useless, you wouldn’t even be able to get to the SpringBoard (though, you could make an emergency call with it!). Warning – Read This Before Upgrading to Firmware 2.0

App StoreIf you have either a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch, or a unlocked iPhone, DO NOT UPGRADE if you want to keep these features. At the time this article was written and published there is no proof that the new iPhone 3G is jailbreakable or unlockable. As soon as this changes we will let you know.

If you are willing to lose these features and want the App Store then you can upgrade like normal through iTunes. If your iPhone is unlocked to a different carrier, upgrading to firmware 2.0 will re-lock your iPhone and it will no longer work.

Jailbreaking iPhone 3G

My mind can’t help but dream of the future of the iPhone 3G. I know that it will get jailbroke and unlocked, but how? With AT&T requiring you to activate in the store or Apple store how will pwnage or winpwn work? It restores your iPhone using custom hacked firmware through iTunes which then iTunes activated the iPhone. If this activation process is no longer done in iTunes, how will jailbreaking occur? I know previous methods such as jailbreakme.com used Safari exploits to gain write access and add Installer.app without needing to restore and reactivate. [Read more…]

WinPwn released version 1.0 today officially bringing it out of beta! YAY! Welcome to the world of full fledge applications WinPwn!

The new features include:
– Completely rewritten installer app that adds support for nearly every package (Including Cydia)
– You are now able to remove items from installer
– Change logos without restoring. This was requested by a LOT of people
– Various Bug fixes & features

We haven’t had a chance to use version 1.0 yet however, my iPhone is about to the point where it usually starts acting crazy. So, you might see a post about it soon!

1.1.4 Jailbreak Experience for Ipod Touch + WORKING DIRECTIONS

I decided to upgrade my 8gb Ipod Touch to 1.1.4 from 1.1.1. I had to restore in 1.1.1, so I thought I would just go to 1.1.4. I decided to use the ZiPhone method since it is supposedly the easiest. I opened up ZiPhone and hit “Ipod Touch Jailbreak”. It seemed like everything was going fine since there was a lot of code on my iPod, but I was mistaken :(. The code would stop, the only thing on the screen would be “Spamming AT, waiting for a response” . I thought I did something wrong so I did force restore, and tried it two more times, same thing. In ZiPhone there is a fix for that error, you just have to click a button. So I clicked “Fix NVRAM” in ZiPhone, then once that was finished I started the jailbreak again. This time everything went smoothly, and I was so excited! I went to installer and attempted to type in a source, and then FREEZE!. [Read more…]

Well I have been completely successful in jailbreaking 1.

1.4 with Zibri’s ZiPhone 2.5. But I have had problems getting some apps to run correctly. I have found a way to fix most of them, the only exception being Customize.

There is a problem where Installer won’t let you install 1.1.3 version apps on 1.1.4, but there is a fix on installer now.

Also I had to manually add my own symbolic links, as the 1.1.3 installer fixes did not properly create a sym link in 1.1.4

One thing I found out is that when I did the ZiPhone 1.0 the first time, I selected activate and didn’t need to. This is what caused YouTube not to work. I jailbroke again using ZiPhone 1.

0 and only selected jailbreak this time and YouTube works and jailbreak went easy. Just start with stock 1.1.3, turn off iPhone, hold home button down, insert into dock, wait for connect to iTunes sign, release home button, run ZiPhone.

I decided to give jailbreaking 1.1.3 another chance. This time I decided to use ZiPhone instead of Nate True’s soft update. I started out with a jailbroke 1.1.1 (jailbroke using jailbreakme.com). I tried upgrading through iTunes to 1.1.3 but it wouldn’t let me, so I restored to original 1.1.1 and then upgraded to 1.1.3 using iTunes. I tried the new ZiPhone 1.1 but when the iPhone would restart it would just stick at the Apple logo. I found in a tutorial by iClarified.com, that ZiPhone 1.0 might work for me since I was having the stuck at Apple logo problem.
