Available In: App Store       Price: $2.99

Tasker Tasker is a task management application that allows you to keep track of your tasks based on when they start (or are due) and where they occur.

The thing that makes this task application a little different from the rest is that you can view your tasks by where they occur. This is helpful for those times when you are out running errands… instead of wondering what you needed to accomplish while at a specific store, you can click on the Place in the Tasker application and it will display a list of all the tasks for that store. Very cool.

The actual usability of the application is very nice. Tasks are simple and easy to set-up. You just enter a task title, select a Start/Due date and select the place where the task takes place. Read more

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

BargainBinYou are going to love this application! It allows you to create a custom list of apps and get push notifications of price changes. So, if you have an app you’ve always wanted but would only pay $0.99 for it, just search for the app, add it to the list, and set the price. If the prices ever changes to your price, the app will send you an push notification. This also works for when apps become free. AWESOME!

Now that’s not all. This app lets you browse apps via category and sort them by recent price changes (bargin), popularity or free. For example, I went into the photography category and found all the sweet apps and added them to my list for when they become free. Now whenever they become free I’ll get a push notification. Other sweet features included app screenshots, descriptions, & a direct link to App Store. Read more

Sync in a Blink and Free your Exchange account from GoogleSync!

Available In: App Store       Price: $4.99

Sync in a Blink I was on the bus to work when it occurred to me that I might be able to get my Exchange account back. You see, I have become very attached to Google calendar and more recently Google contacts. When GoogleSync was released, I was very excited to have the push capabilities of Calendar and Contacts. With ease, I set up and was able to push my calendar, along with my wife’s and our joint calendars. Although the initial sync of contacts was a bit frustrating (I relied on MS Outlook for a long time), I was pleased with the overall results. The one downside was the fact that GoogleSync used the Exchange Account, and the iPhone frustratingly only allows you to use one Exchange account. Thus, I was unable to link my work email to my iPhone and instead had to rely on a bookmark and a much more cumbersome web based interface. With the release of iPhone OS 3.0, CalDAV support was included, and after I read a bit more about this, the wheels started rolling. Read more

Available In: App Store       Price: $5.99

AnalyticsWith the new site design we’ve been tracking site statistics which got me wondering if there were any good Google Analytics apps. I’m pretty sure I’ve check before but when looking this time I found an app called “Analytics”. The screenshot previews looked good but the price was a little high at $5.99. At the time, it had 12 reviews with 4 out of 5 stars. After reading the reviews, only the first version had bad reviews. After an update to version 1.2 most reviews were 5 out of 5. Another selling point was the developer offers a refund via paypal if you’re not satisfied. Read more

ListOmni – Create and Edit Lists

Available In: App Store       Price: $6.99

ListOmni If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ve come to know me as a person who’s very interested in being organized and a big believer in Getting Things Done. As mentioned in my recent review of Organizer, I’m a pretty Type A type of guy. Lots of usage with Outlook, GCal, Toodledo, etc. So, I was excited to give ListOmni a test run to see if it would be able to earn a coveted spot in my organization regimen.

Overview
Listomni is a detailed application that allows you to create and edit numerous lists. The built-in lists include a grocery list, a to do list, a gifts list, but the program has several other lists to keep track of books, movies, cards, and more. You can create lists of your own using a generic list template, and options include backing up lists, sorting through lists, and creating budgets for lists that would benefit from such an ability.

Organizer – ToDo List, Notes, Appointments…Organizing Application

Available In: App Store       Price: $6.99

Organizer First off, let me preface this review by saying that I am an organization freak. I spend more than enough of my day clearing my email inbox, keeping my calendar straight, and creating and checking off my list of to-do items. I feel like I have a pretty tight system in place: Outlook for personal information management (PIM) at home, and Gmail for on the road. Google Calendar on the road and a nice OTA sync with the iPhone (thanks Google!). I just switched from Remember the Milk to Toodledo and recently purchased ToDo to keep things in sync on the iPhone. However, when Organizer came up on the review docket, I decided to give it a try.

Overview
Organizer’s screen looks something straight out of a desk planner that I used to have prior to using electronic PIM devices (ah, memories of my first Palm Pilot, or better yet, my Casio clamshell). A long tap on the iPhone’s screen allows you to input text that you can then manipulate (font, size, color) and place wherever you want on the screen. Changing the bullet point to a checkbox alters the item to a task, and options include a nice cut/paste feature, searchable entries, use of emoji, and inclusion of a landscape view upon rotation of the iPhone.

Take a Note – Versatile Note Taking Application

Available In: App Store       Price: $4.99

Take a Note My wife and I like to play a game called “I liked it better when…” Whenever we see a movie, commercial, or something that seems to be duplicating a prior idea, we’ll say “I liked it better when…” and insert the name of the idea that’s being copied. In the case of Readdle’s Take a Note, I liked it better when it was called Evernote.

Overview
Almost eerily identical to Evernote, the opening user menu of Take a Note gives you options to add a text note, an audio note, a drawing note, and a photo note. All notes that are created on the iPhone are editable, sortable, and searchable. WiFi access gives you the option to transfer notes to and from your computer or other wireless enabled sources. Notes can be emailed directly from the program and the app uses your contacts list to add recipients. Read more

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

Google Mobile AppThe update eveyone’s been waiting for is finally here! Google has release the update to Google Mobile App that includes voice search. On the iPhone, it uses the built in proximity sensor to begin recording when you hold the iPhone up to you ear. It will beep when the recording begins and when you stop talking or pull the iPhone away from your ear it stops. It then sends the recording to Google’s servers where it does the processing. Then it sends back search results, some which will launch the phone or maps applications. You can also tap the magnifying glass to the left of the search bar to change your search from iPhone & Web to Maps, Images, News, Shopping or Wikipedia. I haven’t tested the voice search in the car where there’s background noise but inside where it’s quite it’s working great.

At the bottom center of the app there is an Apps button. It takes you to a list of Google’s services, most formatted to the iPhone that open in Safari. There’s a long list that includes: Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Talk, Reader (my favorite), GOOG-411, News, Notebook, Photos, orkut, Translate, Maps, YouTube & Earth. You can even edit their order by tapping the edit button in the top right corner and dragging them around. Read more

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

VoxieVoxie is a very nice, smooth voice recording application. Some of the better features are organization of recordings and the ability to email the recordings to anyone in your contact list. It sends in and .aif format that the iPhone can read. There are a lot of options in the “Settings” tab which make the app very customizable. You can easily see details like date, time, length and file size and there’s even a visualizer showing what the recording “looks” like. If all of this seems confusing or complicated you can just tap on the “Express” tab and just one tap or a shake starts the recording. One more tap saves it and it becomes ready to record again with just another tap. Read more

TextGuruTextGuru is a pretty sweet text editor. It included features like cut, copy and paste within the app. It can also read Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files along with PDFs. Don’t be mistaken like others, this app only READS the previously named file types, but does not edit them.

What’s nice is you can install a program on your computer from their download page that allows synchronization of documents to your iPhone. This works with OSX Leopard or Tiger and Windows Vista or XP. Read more
