Joulz – WinterBoard Theme

Joulz joulztheme3 Joulz is a simple, clean theme. It contains quite a few mods including; 446 icons, wallpaper, dock, status bar, badges, lockscreen wallpaper, sliders, calculator, notes, keypad…etc. The thing I really like about this theme is that it accommodates both the WeatherIcon and LiveClock mods, which is awesome. You also have the option to turn on a digital live clock. In order for the lockscreen to display your notifications correctly, you will also want to install the Lockscreen Clock Hide mod. Pink Apple – WinterBoard Theme

Pink Apple pinkapple2 This is a theme for the ladies! Pink Apple is a pink theme that contains 49 icons, a wallpaper and a dock. The theme also contains WiFi bar, Signal Bars and a Carrier Logo but, none of those three mods showed up when I tested the theme. iSimple – Unique WinterBoard Theme

WinterBoard isimple4 iSimple is a theme based off the iNav theme. Like the iNav theme, it uses Categories to put all your apps into two categories; Apps and Games. It then uses blank icons (webclips) to position the Games, Apps and Cydia icons correctly on the SpringBoard. You can choose which every apps you would like to put on your dock…which is nice. The Games and Apps icons are clear so that you can see the icons on the wallpaper. Once all your icons are positioned correctly (see screenshots below) you will want to check the No Undocked Icon Labels option in Cydia. The only thing I noticed with this theme is that the Cydia icon is not clear. You would think it should be so that it would match the Games and Apps icons…in which you can see the wallpaper through. iNav WinterBoard Theme – Tutorial

iNav inav14 I’m sure many of you have heard about the iNav theme…if not, WHAT! JK, it’s totally ok if you haven’t heard about it especially because I’m going to tell you about it right now! iNav is a theme pretty much like no other theme out there. Since it’s release, there have been many themes based off of it but, it was definitly one of a kind! It does take a few minutes (ok, like 20 minutes) and a little work (no SSHing though!) to set up this theme so, I’m going to walk you through it. Nova – WinterBoard Theme

Nova is a very unique theme…it is clean and well designed. It contains 21 icons, a dock, status bar, badge and wallpaper. The only downfall is that there is no icon for the Maps application. I even took a look at the folder to make sure it wasn’t spelled incorrectly but, nope, no Maps icon. The upside is that the folder does contain a .psd file so that you can create your own icons. So, if you are ssh savvy and photoshop savvy…you could take care of the no Maps icon problem. If you are ssh or photoshop savvy…you might have to wait for an update before getting a Maps icon! i’Elegance – WinterBoard Theme

i'Elegance ielegancetheme2 OK, as many of you know, I’m not a huge fan of themes what have the date and time on the SpringBoard…only because then I have to move a bunch of blank icons around in order for it to work correctly! But, I am willing to make an exception for i’Elegance! Not only is this theme simple and clean…it basically mods every part of your iPhone and/or iPod Touch. The weather, sms, calculator, keyboard, badges, icons, wallpaper, lock screen, status bar, slider bars, safari, mail….basically everything is modded and themed. This is where another bias of mine comes in, usually themes that mod a majority of your iPhone are thrown together and terribly designed…’Elegance is not one of those themes. The design is quality and it is consistent through all of the mods. I love how each loading screen is customized for each specific app! I also love how it says, “No Calls for You!” on my status bar (our test iPhone is fake activated). It made me laugh! :) [Read more…]

Jailbreaking and Winterboard In The App Store

App StoreOne of our readers sent us this screenshot of an app called Dead Man’s Dungeon. You’ll notice in the description a warning about performance issues if you’re on a jailbroken iPhone suggesting WinterBoard as the problem. It’s interesting that Apple even allows them to use such terminology.

Ovals – WinterBoard Theme

Ovals ovalstheme2 Ovals, is a theme that changes your icons into vertical ovals. The theme contains 53 icons and a wallpaper (actually a few wallpapers). There are a few things I really like about this theme. The first is that the theme has a mask so that all your App Store icons are themed! Which is sweet! The second is that the theme file contains an icon template (a .psd file) so that you can create an icon for any jailbroke apps that might not already have one. Ovals would also work for any of you who use the FCSB mod. Personally, I had to make a few mods to the theme for it to look the way I wanted it to. In WinterBoard, I selected; user wallpaper (and then just used a black wallpaper), transparent dock and reflective dock. You can get this theme via the modmyi source. [Read more…]

Glass Two – WinterBoard Theme

WinterBoardglasstwotheme2 Glass Two is a clean theme that contains 142 icons, dock, status bar and wallpaper. The theme also contains a template so that you can create your own icons (I love when they do that!!). The only issue I have with this theme is that the dock that that theme comes with has reflections of icons however, the reflections are (from left to right); Phone, Safari, iPod and Settings. I personally like to have different icons in my dock but, then it doesn’t reflect correctly. It isn’t a huge deal since you can easily change this using other docks in WinterBoard. 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons – WinterBoard Theme

6 iPhone 3.0 Icons 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons is a theme that includes the Stocks, iPod, Phone, Voice Memos, SMS and MMS icons from the 3.0 firmware. When you install 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons (via the iSpazio source), it will add the theme into WinterBoard where it can then be activated/deactivated. When activated, the Phone, Stocks, iPod and SMS icons will change to the 3.0 icons however, you will not see the Voice Memos or MMS icons due to the fact that there are no apps with these titles on your SpringBoard (or at least not on my SpringBoard). But, the icons are in the theme’s folder so if you want them you can go to Library/Themes/iPhone 3.0 Icons/Icons folder on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I also added them to this post (see screenshots below) The theme only contains these six icons. I will say that I’m a little confused by the MMS icon…I’m not sure if it is based on the country you are in or what but, Doug does not have that icon on his 3.0 upgrade.

BlackDarkness – WinterBoard Theme

BlackDarkness blackdarkness2 BlackDarkness is a dark theme that includes a ton of mods such as; weather theme, chat bubbles, iPod UI, keyboard, dialer, sliders, badges, dock, statusbar, 260 icons, calculator…etc. Usually I’m not a big fan of themes that change a lot of the UI but, that is only because they usually are not very good. However, I was impressed with the mods in the BlackDarkness theme…they are well designed and fit the theme nicely. If you like themes that mod pretty much everything on your iPhone or iPod Touch…then you might want to check this one out. It is available via the modmyi source.

How to Install

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the modmyi source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for BlackDarkness in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the BlackDarkness theme.

Flash- WinterBoard Theme

WinterBoard flashtheme3 Flash is an interesting theme that is available via the iSpazio source. The stock theme comes with a wallpaper and 42 icons, 19 of which are extra icons that can be labeled (via SSH) as any application you would like. The 19 extra icons actually come in handy since both the Stocks and iTunes icons do not have an icon when the theme is installed stock.

Honestly, it took a little bit of work to get this theme to a state in which I thought it looked good. When you install it, there is no icon for Stocks or iTunes. However, because there are 19 extra icons, you can SSH in and pick any of those 19 and easily rename them to Stocks and iTunes. Also, the theme doesn’t comes with a dock so, I turned on the Transparent Dock and the ReflectiveDock in WinterBoard. This made the theme look better. I did go one step further and changed the wallpaper to just a plain black wallpaper so that there wasn’t so much going on in the theme. PlayGround – WinterBoard Theme

WinterBoard playgroundtheme2 PlayGround is not a new theme for the iPhone and/or iPod Touch…we saw this theme back on the 1.1.4 (and below) firmware. However, it seems it has made it’s way to the 2.x firmware. The theme contains 120 icons (though, once again does not contain an icon for the App Store), a dock and a wallpaper. You can get PlayGround via the iSpazio source.

How to Install

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the iSpazio source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for PlayGround in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the PlayGround theme.

WinterBoard Updates – Per-Page Wallpaper

WinterBoard In the last week or so there have been a few updates to WinterBoard. The updates do not make any changes to the user interface of the app but, they do add a few cool new options like per page wallpapers….meaning the ability to have a different wallpaper on each page of your SpringBoard. Below is a list of all the changes for each update. Though, I’m still waiting for that huge update that makes WinterBoard a little more user friendly and gives it a nice clean user interface!!

Note: If you would like to have a different wallpaper on each page of your SpringBoard, you will need to label the wallpapers inside your theme as … Page0.png (first page), Page1.png (second page), Page2.png (third page) and so on.

iWorld – WinterBoard Theme

WinterBoard iworldtheme2 iWorld is a simple theme that includes 83 icons (though, no App Store icon!), a dock and a wallpaper. This is the type of theme I use when I am looking for something simple, clean and easy to read. And for some reason this theme makes me feel calm…might be a good theme for those stressful days! :) You can get iWorld via the iSpazio source.

How to Install

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the iSpazio source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for iWorld in Cydia, run the install.
