SBRotator Updated – Improved Performance and New Features

Available In: Cydia       Price: $1.99

##ICON_NAME## SBRotator, a hack that allows your iPhone to rotate in all 4 possible orientations, was updated to version 1.2. The update makes a few improvements, fixes a decent amount of compatibility issues and adds quite a few new features (see below for full change log). The most noticeable change after the update is the improved performance. The hack is definitely faster and smoother.

In the Settings, you will find quite a few new features. In the basic features you now have the ability to choose from four Background Behaviors (Zoom, Crop, Stretch and Use Wide Theme), the ability to adjust the Animation Duration and the ability to choose between three Animation Themes. You can also choose to scale both the undocked and dock icons as well as hide the icon labels for both the undocked and docked icons. [Read more…]

So far I’m not finding a live audio or video stream. It seems that Apple is filtering out people with cameras. Here’s what Gizmodo just said:

We’re inside. People are being seated. Anyone with a camera is being separated out for some reason. Seriously?

So we’ll just be checking all our sources for info. Steve is on the stage. When there is real factual info about the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, we will be posting it here. An amazing stat being shared is Apple sold over 300,000 iPads on the first day and 450,000 as of today. As usual, Steve Jobs is talking up stats, showing off some iPad apps, and showing they are a head of competition.

iPhone OS will ship in “Summer” of 2010 and a developer preview will be released today. There will be over 1500 new APIs, access to calendar, photo library, quicklook; new framework called accelerate for hardware accelerated math functions.

iPhone Commercial – Shopper

##ICON_NAME## This iPhone Commercial – Shopper – shows the use of a few stock applications; Safari, MMS (picture messaging) and Maps. However, it also features one of my favorite applications… RedLaser (try it once and you will be hooked!).

“I know an espresso maker isn’t the most romantic gift but my wife really wanted one. So I did a little research. Asked her sister which color she’d like, and then I did a quick check to see if it was cheaper anywhere else. Turned out the best price was around the corner. I’m a much smarter and faster shopper with my iPhone”

iPhone Commercial – Concert

##ICON_NAME## This commercial features two applications Shazam and Local Concerts. Both are free apps in the App Store. Personally, I LOVE Shazam!

“I was out the other night and this great song came on. So I used my iPhone to figure out who the band was. Downloaded their album, right there. And the best part was, my iPhone even told me when they were coming to town. So, all I had to do was buy the tickets. I still don’t know how my iPhone does all that.”

Kids and iPads [videos]

bonkThis first video recently became popular mainly because the little girl asks where the app is that takes pictures when she first starts using the new iPad (which the iPad lacks). She has most likely used an iPhone or iPod touch before so she knows what she’s doing. I went looking and found a few more videos of kids testing out the new iPad. Most seem to pick it up pretty quick and they all seem to love the drawing apps. We’ll have to post a video of our kids testing out the new iPad once we pick one up.

Element Lockscreen Now Available in Cydia!

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

##ICON_NAME## I don’t know about you guys but it seems like FOREVER since we wrote that the Element lockscreen concept was going to become reality. Well, it looks as though it has finally made it’s way into Cydia. A few days ago, I was perusing (yes, perusing) Cydia and to my astonishment what did I see… Element. At first I thought it was a theme or maybe some random look-a-like but after some further exploration I found it to be the real deal. However, I’m going to warn you right away, don’t get too excited this is definitely a first release.

The lockscreen was released in Cydia as a cydget. For those of you who do not know what Cydget is, it is “framework for managing lock screen plugins.” Which means, like most cydgets, it runs a little slow. Once you install the app (you will also want to install the Cydget ‘app’ if you do not already have it installed), you will then need to go into your stock Settings application under the Cydget option and tap on Element to activate it on your loackscreen. Once you have done that, you can go into your stock Settings and find the Element option where you will see some basic Setting for the Element lockscreen.

Mounting an iPad into Toyota Dash

CarThis is awesome! I would so do this if I had money laying around, but I don’t. This video is of a car stereo shop named “Sound Man Car Audio” based out of Santa Clarita, CA. They are documenting the install of an iPad into the dash of a Toyota. This video is only the first day of the install, so more will come. They also have some documentation on how to integrate an iPod touch or iPhone into your car audio system.

On The day of the iPad release, we were able to start our planned iPad project. We chose to use the iPad as the only source for the vehicles entertainment system. The dock connector will plug into a cable that runs to a Onkyo ND-S1 which will send the digital signal from the iPad directly into an Audison Bit One. The Bit One will then act as the D/A converter, and will also process the audio signal. The Bit One also has a great controller for adjusting the volume and audio settings. The amplifier we chose is the McIntosh MCC406M. Stay tuned for the rest of the build. You’ll be able to find all the pictures and videos on this page as they become available.

Will It Blend? – iPad Style

##ICON_NAME## Oh boy, he is at it again… the Will It Blend guy has tried his hand at blending the iPad. I distinctly remember watching aghast as he blended an iPhone two years ago. For those of you sick of all the iPad talk… you might enjoy watching this video. Personally, it made me cringe a little. Especially at the beginning!

iPhone Firmware 4.0 Event Preview This Thursday!

AppleApple will be holding an event this Thursday, April 8th at 10:00am PT to show off the new 4.0 Firmware. One of the biggest features rumored to be announced is the ability to run applications in the background simultaneously. Additionally rumored is that hitting the home button twice will bring up an Exposé like view of the apps currently running. Instead of showing screenshots of current apps, it would show the icon of the apps. This would be one of the main features that competitor devices like Androids and the Palm Pre have. Of course, if you’re jailbroken, you can already do this with Backgrounder.
