WinterBoard Mods

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard Below are a few WinterBoard mods. The first is a theme, iBLOB (via iSpazio), is a very clean theme. It basically mods the wallpaper, dock and icons…it contains 70 icons. The second theme, Elegance (via ModMyi), is very similar to the A8stract Theme. I actually prefer some of the icons from the A8stract Theme a little better. Also, if you like the Elegance theme, you are going to have to do a little work. Most of the stock icons are in Italian and need to be renamed to English in order to work. But, if you don’t mind SSH’ing it just takes a little time to get them right. The next two mods are transparent mods. [Read more…]

Updated F.A.Q Page – How to Change your Dialer.

AiS Hey guys, as you already know, in between writing articles and working on the new website, I have been working on updating our F.A.Q page to be more relevant to the 2.x firmware. Tonight I updated our “How do I change the dialer on my iPhone?” There honestly is not a lot of difference in modding your dialer from firmware 1.1.x to the 2.x firmware…the steps are basically the same and the modded folder (MobilePhone.app) is still the same. So, if you used to manually change your dialer on 1.1.x firmware but haven’t given it a shot on the 2.x firmware…you can check out the instructions. The only thing I will say is that some dialer files are made for specific firmwares so make sure you are downloading a dialer that is for the firmware you are running.

AiS Time for a new poll. The last poll was – Have you asked for or plan on buying an iPhone and/or iPod Touch (or accessories) for Christmas? Below are the results based on when we added the poll a week ago.

Have you asked for or plan on buying an iPhone and/or iPod Touch (or accessories) for Christmas? (Choose all that apply!)

I plan on buying at least one iPod Touch for Christmas (12%, 38 Votes)
I have asked for an iPhone for Christmas (15%, 46 Votes)
I have asked for an iPod Touch for Christmas (9%, 28 Votes)

Total Voters: 311

We do not plan on buying any more iPhone’s for Christmas (at least I don’t think we do) though, Doug’s grandma and grandpa each just got one and Doug is trying to talk my dad into getting one too…which I think he might be pretty close to doing! Doug did get a Mophie Juice Pack for Christmas…which he loves!! You can check out our video review of it HERE. I apologize for not having an option in the last poll that said you were not buying nor asking for anything iPhone or iPod Touch related for Christmas! I will remember that for next time! :)

You can still vote on this Poll in our Poll Archive page. You can also vote/view all the past polls on the Poll Archive page as well. Below is the new poll.

slydial – Call Directly into Someone’s Voicemail

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

slydial slydial is an application that allows you to call directly into a person’s voicemail. slydial is not a new service and is actually one that can be used on any phone by calling into 267-SLYDIAL (267-759-3425). However, the syldial application makes the service easily accessible on your iPhonel

Once you have installed slydial via the App Store, all you need to do is open the application and then select whether you would like to choose a number from your Contact list or just enter a phone number. Once you have either chosen a number or entered a number, you will hear the number dialing. It will then say that slydial is connecting you to the person’s voicemail. The next thing you know, you are listening to the person’s voicemail recording! It is really that simple…you do not need to sign up for an account or enter any of your personal information. It is a free service however, it is only available for U.S. mobile phone numbers. Below is more [Read more…]

Ocarina Update – Now Allows Recording of Audio

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

Ocarina There are quite a few cool new things going on over at Ocarina.com as well as with the application itself. For those of you who are not familiar with Ocarina, it is a musical instrument that uses the microphone to detect breath and then uses the iPhone’s touch screen to play different notes (similar to a flute or recorder). Check out THIS POST for more info.

In the last day, Ocarina was updated to version 1.2 adding a very cool, and much awaited, feature…the ability to record your music! Below are the specs we received from Smule and my how-to on how to use the new features. [Read more…]

TimeTable – Keep Track of your Class Schedule

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

TimeTable TimeTable is an application that allows you to keep track of your class schedule. It also allows you to keep track of the room number, teacher, whether you have a test in a class, the homework that is due in a class or any other notes you have for a class. Class schedule applications are allows a little ify for me. Everyone tends to like to keep track or their schedule/assignments in a very particular way. But, if you are looking for a way to do just that, you might want to take a look at TimeTable.

When you first open the application, you will get a pop-up giving you a few instructions about that application. Basically, you will need to set up the application in order to use it. So, once you are past the pop-up, you will see a lower menu bar with five options. The two arrows will move you through the days once they are set-up. The information (i) icon will give you a quick glance of the information for your classes. The + icon is how you add time periods to your day and the last icon, is the Settings icon. This is where you will want to start! [Read more…]

.appshirt – iPhone T-shirts & Sweatshirts

It is getting a little late for online Christmas shopping (which I did a lot of this year) but, if you are looking for something to get that techy person in your life…you might want to check out these t-shirts and sweatshirts. They have a few iPhone specific t-shirts including one with the Pwnage logo (the pineapple), one that says; “Dude, where’s your baseband?” as well as a few others. There are also a few t-shirts/sweatshirts that are twitter related. I personally love the descriptions that are written for some of the shirts! The t-shirts run between 23.00-25.00 EUR (which is about $35.00 USD) and the sweatshirts are 50.00 EUR. The website is appshirt.com. Check it out! Below are images of a few of the t-shirts.
