Like most firmware updates… iOS 4.1 breaks the current jailbreak and unlock. This is especially true for unlockers due to the fact there there is no way to revert your baseband. I’m sure the guys over at the Dev-Team are working on updating the jailbreak. We will keep you informed on how they are doing. Below is what the Dev-Team has to say about upgrading to iOS 4.1.

iOS 4.1 Breaks Jailbreak and Unlock – via Dev-Team
Dev-Team Releases Developer Jailbreak for 4.0 Firmware
We have known for a week or so that the 4.0 firmware is jailbreakable however, the Dev-Team has now released a beta of the jailbreak. This jailbreak is specifically for “developers of jailbroken apps.” Like all jailbreaks, it has restrictions. Below is some info from the Dev-Team.

Jailbreak Firmware 3.1.3 With PwnageTool 3.1.5 for Mac OS X
Just in case you missed it, last week the Dev-Team released a jailbreak for firmware 3.1.3. Like every time a new firmware update/jailbreak is released, be sure you read all the info on the Dev-Team’s page before upgrading. There really is no huge reason to upgrade to firmware 3.1.3 it was basically just bug fixes but, if you must, check out the info below. [Read more…]
ultrasn0w Unlock Update – Carrier Logo Fix
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
Today the Dev-Team released an update to the unltrasn0w unlock. The update to version 0.92 is basically a bug fix.
Today we released an ultrasn0w update that fixes an issue for those running firmware 3.1.2 with the 04.26 baseband. That specific combination resulted in a missing carrier name in the upper left-hand corner of your home screen. Today’s ultrasn0w update from 0.91 to 0.92 fixes that problem (which was an important issue for roaming). You should see the update available if you have http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com as a Cydia source. Enjoy!
Dev-Team Releases Jailbreak – PwnageTool 3.1.4
The Dev-Team has released a jailbreak for firmware 3.1.2. The jailbreak (PwnageTool 3.1.4) works for the iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS. It also work on the 1G and 2G iPod touch. It does not support the 3G iPod touch at this time. PwnageTool only works on a Mac (no Windows version yet).
If you are an unlocker, “It is super important that people who need the unlock to understand they can keep it only by starting at 3.0 (or earlier) and updating solely to custom IPSWs that don’t update the baseband. For those who have been onboard the “unlock train”, simply install ultrasn0w via Cydia once you’ve restored to your custom IPSW. Don’t forget to turn off the “3G” setting in Settings->General->Network if you use T-Mobile in the U.S.A.”
Below is a snippet from the Dev-Team’s website. However, you will want to check out their blog for full information and the download.
Be sure to read everything carefully before you begin your jailbreak.

Dev-Team Talks About the blackra1n Jailbreak
The Dev-Team has updated their blog with a little snippet about the blackra1n jailbreak. Below is what they have to say. You can see the original article HERE.
Update: geohot released a Windows jailbreak called “blackra1n” which is similar to redsn0w in that it covers multiple devices (and it covers beyond just firmware 3.0.1 where redsn0w currently stops). blackra1n is not a carrier unlock. You must always avoid updating your baseband to maintain your unlockability. If you use blackra1n to jailbreak 3.1 or 3.1.2, the steps you take before running blackra1n will prevent the unlock from working on your iPhone for potentially a very long time. By the way, we haven’t yet tested whether a blackra1n’d device can accept a custom IPSW without tweaks, but if it doesn’t then it should only require a minor change.
Dev Team Talks about 3.1.2 Firmware
Yesterday, Apple released firmware 3.1.2. Yes, I know this happened yesterday, but we are currently on vacation in the beautiful countryside of Wisconsin and our AT&T Cellular Data Card is having sketchy service (go figure). :)
According to the Dev Team, you will want to hold off on up upgrading because neither PwnageTool or redsn0w work on 3.1.2. Below is what they had to say on their blog. [Read more…]
Dev Team Jailbreaks 3.1
A recent tweet from @cpich3g claims the dev team has upgraded from firmware 3.0 to 3.1. It looks like they were on a jailbroken 3.0 and upgraded to 3.1 without having to rejailbreak. We’ll know more soon once we hear officially from the dev team. We’ll keep you updated once a tool is released. Here’s a screenshot of the tweet and the images @cpich3g posted in the tweet.
Dev-Team Addresses PwnageTool 3.1 Jailbreak Issues
The Dev-Team has added a few updates to their firmware 3.1 Jailbreak post. The updates address a few issues people are having with the PwnageTool 3.1 jailbreak. Check out the updates below.
Remember, PwnageTool is the jailbreak that is Mac compatible. Also, PwnageTool 3.1 only works on the 1st gen iPod touch, 1st gen iPhone (iPhone 2G) and the iPhone 3G. We are still waiting for a jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, the 2nd gen iPod touch and the 3th gen iPod touch as well as a version of the jailbreak that is PC compatible (the PC compatible version of the jailbreak is called redsn0w). Dev-Team, Snow Leopard, Jailbreaking and Unlocking
On Friday, I wrote about the Dev-Team and how they had tweeted letting everyone know that there didn’t seem to be any problems with Snow Loepard and jailbreaking. Yesterday, the Dev-Team released an update on their website. They talk about both the redsn0w jailbrek and the untrasn0w unlock. Below is what they had to say. [Read more…]
iPhone Dev Team Application
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
An iPhone Dev Team Application has been released in Cydia. The application allows you to view the Dev-Team’s website, twitter account and torrents right in the application. It is an easy way to stay up-to-date on the Dev-Team. I did notice that the Torrents option doesn’t seem to work but, the other two options (Blog and Twitter) do. You can get iPhone Dev Team via the BigBoss source. [Read more…]
3.0.1 Jailbreak Info (via Dev-Team)
The Dev-Team has tweeted that the redsn0w jailbreak does work on the 3.0.1 firmware however, you need to point it to the 3.0 IPSW. They say it even works on the iPhone 3GS and with ultrsn0w. They do not have anything posted on their blog yet. Below is their tweet.
iphone_dev tweet – “Early adopters have found that redsn0w JB *already* works on 3.0.1 (just point it at 3.0 IPSW!) Even for 3GS & ultrasn0w.”
Dev-Team Gets Google Voice (and gives out the number!)
It seems the Dev-Team has some guts! They just posted on Twitter that they have a new Google Voice number… the post includes the number itself. So, if you would like to reach the Dev-Team, feel free to call (347) Dev-Team which equals (347) 338-8326. I’m not sure who you will get (maybe it is forwarding to all the Dev-Team members) or if they will even answer but, they said to feel free to leave a message. I have a feeling they might start to get inundated with calls… we will see if they regret the decision! [Read more…]
ultrasn0w 0.9 – Info via the Dev-Team
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
It seems that while we were on vacation, ultrasn0w was updated to version 0.9. The Dev-Team has quite a bit to say about this version of ultrasn0w (including how the source code from the purplesn0w unlock helped improve ultrasn0w…interesting). Anyway, below are just a few snippets from the post three days ago and the one from tonight. [Read more…]
