Steven Troughton-Smith, the developer of the very sweet application Stack, has been working on a new app called Expose. Expose is basically like Spaces on the Mac only, on the iPhone. He is still working on some final UI and animation stuff and there is no word on when it will be available but, it looks sweet. Check out the demo videos and screenshot below.

Rename II is an application that allows you to easily change the name of Stock, Jailbroke and App Store applications.
Rename II is very simple to use. The application gives you three options; /Applications, Appstore Apps and About. The /Applications option lists apps that are in your /Applications folder. Today, 2XL Games announced the release of 2XL ATV Offroad, an ATV offroad racing game. Like 2XL Games previous release, 2XL Supercross, 2XL ATV Offroad looks to have sweet graphics and awesome gameplay.
“With 2XL ATV Offroad, we set rather ambitious goals in terms of gameplay and visual presentation,” said Rick Baltman, President of 2XL Games. “The final product has undoubtedly exceeded those goals. There are so many choices for each rider in terms of tracks, control schemes, camera, skin combinations and modes. For those of you who prefer GeoHot’s blackra1n jailbreak to the Dev-Team’s Pwnage Tool, it is now available for the Mac. Just head over to www.blackra1n.com for the download link.
According to info from some Dev Team members, new iPhone 3GS models are coming with an updated bootrom version 359.3.2. The current exploit, 24kpwn, is not working on iPhone 3GS models with this bootrom. We’ll know more and more as people buy iPhones but beware if you are buying a new one. Although there is no working jailbreak for this bootrom, hackers have always made it past any roadblocks from Apple and will likely make it past this one eventually. PreTend is a WinterBoard theme created by james and contains 27 icons, a statusbar, dock, badges, page dots, statusbar icon mods and four wallpapers. The theme also contains an icon template and a wallpaper template. Both are .psd files. The only manual modding I had to do on this theme is that I ssh’d in and changed the Music.png to iPod.png so that there was an icon for the iPod application (the icons are located in the Themes/Pre-Tend/Icons folder). Armoured Shift has finally hit the App Store! We first told you about this game almost two months ago. Armoured Shift is a “shoot’em’up” game for the iPhone and iPod touch that boasts 60 frames per second gameplay.
“The groundbreaking open-world space shooter challenges players to shoot down hordes of asteroids, enemy ships and bosses using a spaceship largely controlled by the iPhone/iPod Touch’s accelerometer. The Dev-Team has released a jailbreak for firmware 3.1.2. The jailbreak (PwnageTool 3.1.4) works for the iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS. It also work on the 1G and 2G iPod touch. It does not support the 3G iPod touch at this time. PwnageTool only works on a Mac (no Windows version yet).
If you are an unlocker, “It is super important that people who need the unlock to understand they can keep it only by starting at 3.0 (or earlier) and updating solely to custom IPSWs that don’t update the baseband. For those who have been onboard the “unlock train”, simply install ultrasn0w via Cydia once you’ve restored to your custom IPSW. Don’t forget to turn off the “3G” setting in Settings->General->Network if you use T-Mobile in the U.S.A.”

Hey guys, you may have noticed that articles keep appearing, disappearing and reappearing from our website today. You are not going crazy (though, I thought I was for a while)… we are having some technical difficulties. We will get things back to normal as soon as possible. Doug does all that website building/fixing stuff so it’s up to him to fix it! :)
PS. For those of you wondering (Nate and Alan) why we would take a vacation in Wisconsin (we were on vacation last week)… it is because there is this ten mile stretch of nothing but apple trees and orchards that I love to go to! We go in the fall because the drive is absolutely beautiful and the orchards are at their prime. We did get snowed on this year which was crazy. Below is a pic (before it all melted). The only bad part about taking a vacation in the middle of nowhere is sketchy internet… it was terrible!

SMS Helper, a mod that counts the number of characters as you type a text messages, was recently updated to version 0.3, 0.3-1 and 0.3-2. The major update was 0.3 which adds a text counter and setting options.
The text counter is a new feature that counts the number of text message you have sent. The counter is based on the “standard” text length of 160 characters. Since the iPhone can send messages longer that 160 characters, the app will count any text over 160 characters as two text messages (or three, or four…). To view the text counter, just tap on the header in the stock Messages application. The counter can be manually reset from there as well. SMS and MMS are counted separately. [Read more…]
The Dev-Team has updated their blog with a little snippet about the blackra1n jailbreak. Below is what they have to say. You can see the original article HERE.
Update: geohot released a Windows jailbreak called “blackra1n” which is similar to redsn0w in that it covers multiple devices (and it covers beyond just firmware 3.0.1 where redsn0w currently stops). blackra1n is not a carrier unlock. You must always avoid updating your baseband to maintain your unlockability. If you use blackra1n to jailbreak 3.1 or 3.1.2, the steps you take before running blackra1n will prevent the unlock from working on your iPhone for potentially a very long time. By the way, we haven’t yet tested whether a blackra1n’d device can accept a custom IPSW without tweaks, but if it doesn’t then it should only require a minor change.

SpotSMS, a mod allows the stock Spotlight Search to search within your SMS (and MMS) messages, was update to version 0.4. The update adds the predicted Settings options.

A few days ago we told you about GoeHot and that he had found a jailbreak, which he is calling blackra1n, that would work on all devices. Well, last night, he released the jailbreak.
There are a few things to note.
– The jailbreak is for Windows users only. No Mac version yet.
– blackra1n does not hactivate your iPhone (fake activate it). So, in order to use this jailbreak you will need to have an iPhone on an official carrier.
– 3G and 3GS unlockers “do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings.”
– blackra1n does jailbreak the third generation iPod touch however, it is a tether jailbreak. ” In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n.”
– blackra1n should work on devices using firmware 3.0 and up.
