Waveboard – Google Wave iPhone App

##ICON_NAME## There has been some talk lately of a Google Wave iPhone application (not the current web app) titled Waveboard. Waveboard is being developed by Dirk Holtwick and is, “a client software for Google Wave for both Mac OS X 10.5+ and iPhone OS 3.0+.”

Currently, the app has been submitted to the App Store (a few times) and is waiting approval. Below is a video demo of Waveboard for the iPhone. You can follow the progress of the app on the developer’s blog – www.getwaveboard.com

Slide to Unlock Killer

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

##ICON_NAME## Slide to Unlock Killer is a mod that removes the text from the slider bars on your iPhone or iPod touch. It removed both the “slide to unlock” and the “slide to power off” text. The actual slider bar remains, just the text is removed. This is nice for lock screen mods that change the slider bar.

The mod can be activated/deactivated via WinterBoard. Also, the title of the mod in WinterBoard is EntriegelKiller. You can get Slide to Unlock Killer via the Touch-Mania source.

Facebook iPhone App Updates “Coming Soon”

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

##ICON_NAME## Joe Hewitt, the developer of the facebook App Store application, recently tweeted that the app will soon be receiving two updates. The update to version 3.03 will be bug fixes and it will be followed by version 3.1 which is said to include push notification (along with a few other nice new features).

The thing I find strange is the lack of info about version 3.1. In the past we have seen pictures, video, tweets… etc about updates. Not this time. I guess we will just have until it;s released to see all the cool new features.

Verizon Droid Ad Specifically Target iPhone

##ICON_NAME## I know you guys may have already seen this, but it’s one of those things I just have to write about. Last week, Verizon launched an ad that targeted the iPhone and AT&T however, that ad (There’s an Map for That), doesn’t attack the iPhone as obviously as Verizon’s new Droid ad does. The new ad is titled iDon’t and points out all the features the iPhone does not have in which the Droid does.

It seems that Verizon is taking a very pointed and specific marketing strategy… make the iPhone look bad. Even the Droid’s website is playing up the theme. Check it out HERE.

You can view both ads below.

GDZLLA: Post Pictures to Flickr from Tweetie 2

Tweetie 2One of the sweet features of Tweetie 2 is the ability to enter your own “Image Service APT Endpoint”. This allows you to add your own choice for where your images are posted if you’re not happy with the list provided. Here’s where GDZLLA comes in. You just visit gdzl.la to setup your account and it will post your images to Flickr instead of something like Twitpic. This is awesome because now I can post my image once and not worry about uploading it to Flickr later. The only downfall is it doesn’t name the photos. You probably don’t want the whole tweet being the title. Maybe have the tweet go in the description. Right now it just names the picture “Photo” and the description “Uploaded from Tweetie 2 via GDZLLA“. Then it just needs to upload it to my Facebook account and we’d be all set. This is currently a free service.

Lexic 2.0 – New Game Option: Quest

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

##ICON_NAME## Today, Lexic has been update to version 2.0. I very rarely write about App Store app updates but, this is absolutely my favorite word game. The update adds a new game option called Quest.

Quest adds a whole new dimension to the game. The object of Quest is still to earn as many points as possible but, in order to advance to the next level, you have to collect the specified amount of Gold letters (by using them in a word). That sounds easy enough however, you have to collect them while navigating through Bomb, Lock, Virus and Letter Switching titles. [Read more…]

##ICON_NAME## Snood is currently on sale for $2.99, down from the original price of $3.99. Snood is a puzzle games where the object is to match three of the same color characters… thus making them disappear.

This is the first time the app has been on sale since it’s August release and it is not a large discount price, but if you have been holding off… you may want to pick it up now.

EA Mobile Releases Trailer for Rock Band App

##ICON_NAME## Rock Band is due to be released sometime this month. In the mean time, EA has release a teaser trailer of the app. Not a ton of game play footage but enough to make you wish they would hurry up and release it! For those of you how missed our previous post about Rock Band… I have also included screenshots and the App Description.

Expose Changed to Orbit and Submitted to Cydia Store

##ICON_NAME## A few days ago, we told you about Expose, an application that is similar to Spaces on the Mac only on the iPhone. The developer, Steven Troughton-Smith (who also developed Stack), has changed the title of the mod Expose to Orbit. Orbit has been submitted to the Cydia store and should show up soon in the next few days. No info on how much the app will cost but, I’m guessing it will be worth it. For demo videos of the mod, check out THIS post.

Apple Now Allowing In-App Purchase in Free App Store Applications

##ICON_NAME## Apple has announced to developers that they are changing the in-app purchase feature of App Store applications. In the past, only paid applications could use the in-app purchase feature however, Apple is now allowing the feature to be implemented into free apps as well as paid apps.

I’m not sure what I think about this yet but, I do think it could help clean up the App Store a bit. Instead of developers creating a free lite version of their app, they could just make the application free with an in-app purchase to buy the full game thus eliminating the need for free lite versions of applications.

Below is Apple’s memo. [Read more…]

PocketTouch Makes it to the App Store

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

##ICON_NAME## I was totally stoked to hear that PocketTouch had made it into the App Store. PocketTouch was definitely one of the most popular jailbroke applications and I always love to see those apps make it to the App Store.

For those of you unfamiliar with the app, PocketTouch is a music controller for your iPhone or iPod touch. The beauty of PocketTouch is that you can control your music without having to look at your device… all the controlling is done through taps, swipes and shaking.

Once you have a song playing in your music player, you can launch PocketTouch.

Amphibious – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

##ICON_NAME## amphibious2 Amphibious is an extremely unique theme. Normally, I’m not big into “themed” themes, but this one is very well designed. The theme contains quite a few mods including a Weather app mod, iPod app mod, lockscreen mod, lockscreen battery mod, badges, page dots, statusbar, dock, wallpaper and 50 icons. The app also includes 7 alternate wallpapers, an alternate dock, an alternate statubar bar and quite a few alternate icons (these alternate mods would all have to be viewed/changed via ssh).

The developer of the theme does give you a few options in WinterBoard including the ability to turn on/off the Weather app mod, the iPod app mod, the lockscreen battery mod, the Digital LiveClock mod, the Lockscreen mod and the option to choose a 4 icon or 5 icon dock wallpaper. This makes the theme easily customizable.

You can get Amphibious via the modmyi source.
