Facebook iPhone App Experiencing Connection Issues (It’s Not Just You)

FacebookMy grandma has been texting me for the past couple days asking me to help her fix her Facebook iPhone App. She said it’s not refreshing her news feed and can’t see people’s walls. I told her to shake it :) (that forces the app to refresh.) It didn’t work. Then I noticed I am having the same issues. Have you been experiencing problems? Let us know in the comments. Multiflow – Multitasking Application {Updated}

##ICON_NAME## Multiflow is a multitasking application. The app uses Backgrounder to start applications running in the background and then allows you to view and switch between the apps that are running in the background. It basically puts a GUI on the Backgrounder utility. Check out the demo video below.

This reminds me of an application that Steven Troughton-Smith (the developer of Stack and Orbit) posted a screenshot of last month.

Friday Night Movie Night: Touch DJ – Pro Level MP3 DJ Mixing

Touch DJTonight, my wife and I went to dinner with friends, one being a local radio station manager. He was telling me one of his employees was super excited about a DJ app that was released recently. He said the guy had been waiting for the app and that I should check it out. Well, looking for videos for tonight’s Friday Night Movie Night I just happened to run across the same app and I’m telling you, from the video, it looks like it’s worth the $19.99 their asking for it. I’m gonna try hard to get a promo code for this app and get a video review of all it’s features. Being such an expensive app, you need to know what it can do before you buy. Here’s their promo video which is pretty convincing if you’re into this kinda stuff.

TomTom Creates Car Kit Giving First Gen iPhone and iPod Touch GPS Capability

##ICON_NAME## Earlier this week, TomTom updated their app allowing the TomTom applications to be installed on the first gen iPhone and the first and second gen iPod touches. Previously, the app could only be installed on the iPhone 3G and 3GS. With the update to the app comes a new product… a TomTom Car Kit for the iPod touch.

The iPod touch Car Kit is priced at $99.95 ($20 less than the iPhone Car Kit). The Kit is currently not available and based on the iPhone Car Kit who knows when they will have it ready! Just kidding! They say it is coming soon and it can already be seen on TomTom’s website.

TwitLock Cydget – Tweet from your Lock Screen

TwitLock TwitLock is a Cydget that allows you to tweet from your lock screen. Once installed, you can activate it via the stock Settings application under the Cydget.

After you have activated the Cydget, you will need to go to your lock screen. The first time you view TwitLock on your lock screen you are prompted to sign into your twitter account. After you have successfully signed in you are able to post a tweet right from your lock screen.

Jobs Personally Responds to Company’s Plea Against App Name Change

##ICON_NAME## This is an interesting little story. You may have already seen this but, if not, it is an interesting read. It seems that The Little App Factory, a Mac shareware company, received a letter from Baker & McKenzie, the lawfirm that represents Apple.

In the letter the company is told that they must change the name of one of there most popular applications iPodRip and also remove the iPod image from another of their application’s logo.

iRip (formally iPodRip) is an application that allows the user to copy and transfer your songs from iPod™ & iPhone™ to your computer. iRip has been available since 2003 and has had over 5 million downloads.

The Co-owner of The Little App Factory decided to send Mr. Jobs an email addressing the request. Below is that email as well as the response.

eBay App Update – Includes New Features

##ICON_NAME## The eBay iPhone and iPod touch application has received an update to version 1.5.0. The update add a few new features including Best Offer support with push notification, live countdown timers and the ability to share items via twitter, facebook and email. It seems the update is just in time for the Holiday season. You can view the full change log below.

American Heart Association Launches Hands-Only CPR App

Hands-Only CPR The American Heart Association and Ad Council have launched an iPhone application in promotion of the Hands-Only CPR campaign. The Hands-Only CPR campaign “encourages bystanders to use Hands-Only CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) when an adult collapses and is unresponsive.”

As part of the campaign they have created a free iPhone and iPod touch application that provides clear instructions on how to perform Hands-Only CPR. The application contains two instructions on how to respond when an adult has collapsed and is unresponsive.

1) Call 911.
2) Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

LUMA – Challenging Puzzle Game by Walt Disney

LUMA LUMA, by Walt Disney, is a unique puzzle game. The game has a simple objective, connect the lighted paths by linking the nodes. As easy as that sounds, the game provides a challenging game play.

The controls are nicely designed, you are able to rotate the lighted nodes using a control bar on the left side of the screen. As you rotate a node the lines inside the node will connect to the lines in the next node causing it to light up. You continue to connect the nodes until you have reached the end.

LUMA contains two game modes; Adventure and Survival. The Survival mode is locked until you have completed all the levels in Adventure mode. You are also able to view any acheivements you have unlocked.

WikiSearch Cydget – Search Wikipedia from your Lock Screen

##ICON_NAME## WikiSearch is a Cydget that allows the ability to search Wikipedia right from your lock screen.

Once installed, you can go into the stock Settings application under Cydget and enable WikiSearch. You will then be able to search Wikipedia directly from your lock screen. To search, just tap on the search bar and type in your search term(s). It will display the mobile version of Wikipedia on your lock screen. You are able to scroll through the page, click on links, view images… etc. You are not able to zoom in on the page but other than that, it has most of the functionality you would normally have.

iPhone Commercial: Songs

AppleAnother of Apple’s newest commercials again advertises 100,000+ apps in the app store. One of the apps shown is Shazam which recently released a new version of their app, Shazam Encore, that detects what song is playing and now costs $4.99. The apps in this commercial include: Jamie Oliver’s 20 Minute Meals ($7.99), Credit Card Terminal ($0.99), Facebook (Free), The Sims 3 ($6.99), Redfin Real Estate (Free), Shazam (Free).
