Google Updates Mobile Search Page

##ICON_NAME## Google has updated their mobile (and desktop) search to incorporate a few more features. Now, when searching via Google on your device, you will notice a little arrow icon to the left of the search bar. When selected, you are given additional search options allowing you the ability to narrow down your search. These includes; the ability to view only News, Updates or Products for your search results as well as the option to view search results by time (Latest, Past 24 hours, Past week, Past year or Specific date range).

There is also an option to switch between ‘Standard Results’ and results that include ‘Images from the Page’. If you switch to the ‘Images from the Page’ option, the page will load displaying images contained within each search results. However, if you tap on an image, it will bring you to that webpage… it does not display the image larger.

Ellen Degeneres Appologizes for iPhone Commercial Spoof

EllenApparently Apple was not too happy about a recent iPhone commercial spoof Ellen Degeneres did on her show. After releasing the commercial she quickly appologized on her show. The commercial is pretty funny and it is kinda true of how some people react to the iPhone. What do you think? Funny? True? Lame?

AppleHere’s a video of an iPad 3G 64GB being cooked in a microwave for 18 minutes. I have no comment… but I’m sure you will so leave them below.

iPhone Firmware 4.0 Beta 3 Has Rotation Lock, iPod Controls & iPod Icon

Firmware 4.0Apple released iPhone firmware 4.0 beta 3 today and then quickly pulled it back down. We haven’t heard if it’s back up yet but we have heard of some of the new features. First, when double clicking the homebutton and seeing the icons of the apps running in the background you can now swipe to the left and see new buttons. The first is a orientation lock. When it’s selected the iPhone locks it orientation to portrait and shows an indicator in the status bar. From what I can see in video demonstrations, it does not lock in the current position but always forces back to portrait. Hopefully this is changed in a later update and will lock in which ever way you had it when pressing that icon.

Another feature is the iPod controls in the same area mentioned above. You can go back, play, pause or go forward a song. I’m really glad they brought this back. This is one reason I went back to 3.1.3 from 4.0 Beta 1. When running in the morning I can’t switch from RunKeeper to iPod to skip to the next song. I used to just double tap and get iPod controls to skip ahead. Really glad this is back. You can also get right to the iPod app form this same swipe to the left location. [Read more…]

Friday Night Movie Night: The iPad DJ

iPodThis is probably the reason that YouTube doesn’t allow every account to upload videos over 10 minutes long. This video is from Scobleizer’s account which can go over the 10 minute limit and so this video is 17:49. A little long but there is some sweet gear in this video and of course some sweet apps. This DJ is doing most everything from two iPads. Check out the video and I also have all the apps she used listed below.

iPhone Commercial – Family Man

##ICON_NAME## Apple has released a new iPhone commercial – Family Man. The commercial highlights the ability for the iPhone 3GS to capture and playback video as well as a few applications from the App Store (see list below).

I don’t know about you but, this commercial is soooo true for us! The grandparents really do like to see the videos, I totally use my iPhone all the time for cooking, our kids love to play games and watch videos and Doug uses his for everything (I’ve seen that guy do some pretty crazy things from his iPhone)… I’m pretty sure it never leaves his hands.

Android Firmware Running on the iPhone [video]

GoogleI have been waiting for this for a while and actually forgot about it. Since Google Android is open source it makes it a little easier to install on the iPhone. Known in the hacking world as planetbeing, in the video he starts with the 1st Gen iPhone booted into the iPhone OS. Then after turning off and back on the iPhone, he shows how he hacked linux to dual boot and then load the Android software. A few things are a little weird, one being the fewer amount of buttons on the iPhone. In the video you see him make a call, receive a text and connect to wifi.

Today ToDo Pro – Unique ToDo Application

Available In: App Store       Price: $3.99

Today ToDo Pro Doug recorded this review a couple days ago (I’m sure why he didn’t post it… probably because of the light in the background that I forgot to turn off!). Either way, I really like Today ToDo Pro so I thought I would pass it along. I am constantly on the quest for the perfect todo app and this one really sticks out among the rest. The interface is simple and very unique, it has the features I’m looking for in a todo app and it is well designed. Check out Doug’s video review below.

Mounting an iPad into Toyota Dash – Part 2

CarHere’s the second part of the install of the iPad into the dash of a car. (Read part 1 here) They had some problems with getting a digital source from the iPad so they had to settle with an analog source. Still looks awesome! They also got the iPhone to work with the stock bluetooth through the aftermarket audio.

iPhone Commercial – Shopper

##ICON_NAME## This iPhone Commercial – Shopper – shows the use of a few stock applications; Safari, MMS (picture messaging) and Maps. However, it also features one of my favorite applications… RedLaser (try it once and you will be hooked!).

“I know an espresso maker isn’t the most romantic gift but my wife really wanted one. So I did a little research. Asked her sister which color she’d like, and then I did a quick check to see if it was cheaper anywhere else. Turned out the best price was around the corner. I’m a much smarter and faster shopper with my iPhone”
