SlingPlayer Mobile 1.1 Now in App Store

Version 1.1 of SlingPlayer Mobile was just approved by Apple and is now available in the App Store. the update does contain some new features (see list below) but still does not allow the app to work on 3G. The developers have submitted a version of the app that does allow it to work on 3G however, they have not heard back from Apple on that version of the app yet. Streamer – Stream Internet Radio and TV

ZodTTD, the developer of psx4iphone and quake4iphone has been developing an App Store application called Streamer. Today, the app was approved by Apple. Streamer is an application that allows you to stream internet radio and television.

The application comes stock with 6 audio streams and 6 video streams. You can able to add a stream using the Bookmark option. Once a stream is playing; you can pause it, bookmark it and watch it using the Now Playing option. Read more

UstreamBroadcaster

Available In: Cydia

The Ustream.tv Mobile app has to be one of the coolest apps that I have played with. On my personal website (justinvanrheenen.com) I have a section on my sidebar for live streaming from Ustream.tv. I really haven’t used this much but this mobile app may make it easier to live stream whatever my heart desires.

To get instructions for the download, you can go to Ustream.tv/mobile. You will need to sign up for a Ustream.tv account if you do not currently have one.

Once you have set up your account, open Cydia. If you have not jailbroken your iPhone yet, you will not be able to use the Ustream.tv Mobile App. You can download a Ustream.tv Watch App from the App Store but to be able to live stream from the phone, you will need to jailbreak your phone.
1. Once you have opened Cydia tap “Sections” at the bottom.
2. On the next screen, tap “Multimedia”.
3. Then tap the letter “u” to find the UstreamBroadcaster.
4. Then install and confirm the installation of the app.

livecliq – Video Recording and Streaming App

livecliq is an application that allows you to record video on your iPhone and/or stream video from your iPhone to livecliq.net. When you first open livecliq, it will ask to use your current location after that, you will be asked for your Token number. To receive a token number you must go to livecliq.net/download. Here you will need to sign up for an account. Once you have signed up for an account, you will need to enter your phone number (your full phone number 1-555-555-555) and then select download. They will then send a text message, that contains a link, to your iPhone. It only takes a few seconds to get the text message. Once you receive the text message you can select the link in the text. This will bring you to a page that will contain your Token number. Now, you can go back into livecliq on your iPhone and enter your token number.

qik is now available in Cydia. qik allows you to stream live video from your iPhone. Additional features include chatting live with your audience and automatically sending a message to your friends via Twitter and many other services. Live Stream of iPhone 3G Launch

uXM 0.53

uXM allows you to play XM Satellite radio on your iPhone. We don’t have an account for XM Radio so a member of the forum has posted it for us. Thanks DJContagious!

Milliard Software, Maker of uSirius (A mobile Sirius Radio player) has released their new app, titled uXM. uXM requires a membership to XM Radio, just like uSirius. uXM is still in beta, but will still function really smoothly. When you open the app, you will see a login screen, exactly similar to the one of uSirius. On the bottom, there are 2 options: Load Channel Logos and Clear Caches, but you must be logged in to do this. Once you login, you would want to press the Channels button on the top left to start listening. Read more

SlingPlayer Mobile for the iPhone

From what I’ve read on the web I’m hearing that this isn’t an App Store app yet but just something they are working on and will be released later. I found a sneak peak on YouTube:

Simplify Media Mobile

This is another great app. Works great and has purpose. It allows you to stream music from iTunes, Winamp or just any folders you choose to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It only works on wifi but you can be anywhere. So for example I set up the service on a computer at work and can access the music from home. Even better, you can share your music with up to 30 other friends. They just need a Simplify Media account and install their software on your computer. They have it for Mac, Windows and Linux. You can download the software online at simplifymedia.com and the app is available through the Ste source.

I tested this streaming from my desk computer at work which was pulling .mp3s from our backup server of everyone’s iTunes It’s on cable internet and I’m at home on DSL. So now when I’m at home or work or anywhere there is wifi I can access all my music without worrying about my iPhone’s 8GB limit. I just need to get a few friends set up with the service and I’ll have tons of music at my finger tips!
