AT&T to Launch iPhone MMS on September 25th!

##ICON_NAME## Finally, AT&T has released an actual date on when we will see MMS for the iPhone. AT&T plans to roll out MMS for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers on September 25th! The update will be enabled through a software update on September 25th! YAY for September 25th!

Though, you will notice that the Press Release says nothing about tethering… grrrrr. View full press release below.

Press Release:

We know many of our iPhone customers are eager for an update on our rollout schedule for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). We’ve been working for the past several months to prepare our systems and network to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it launches – and that launch date is: September 25 for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. MMS will be enabled through a software update on that day.

We know that iPhone users will embrace MMS. The unique capabilities and high usage of the iPhone’s multimedia capabilities required us to work on our network MMS architecture to carry the expected record volumes of MMS traffic and ensure an excellent experience from Day One. We appreciate your patience as we work toward that end.

We’re riding the leading edge of smartphone growth that’s resulted in an explosion of traffic over the AT&T network. Wireless use on our network has grown an average of 350 percent year-over-year for the past two years, and is projected to continue at a rapid pace in 2009 and beyond. The volume of smartphone data traffic the AT&T network is handling is unmatched in the wireless industry. We want you to know that we’re working relentlessly to innovate and invest in our network to anticipate this growth in usage and to stay ahead of the anticipated growth in data demand, new devices and applications for years to come.

We thank you for your business and look forward to keeping you updated on our initiatives.

Dock (an application launching utility) on 3.0 Firmware

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Dock It has been a long time (and when I say long time… I’m talking like August 19th of 2008 long time) since I have done a review of Dock, an application that allows you to launch other applications. Honestly, I didn’t even know if it was working on the 3.0 firmware so I decided to give it a shot and, apparently it does work on 3.0. I do think however, that this app has been through more transformations than any other app!

To use Dock, you just drag your finger up from the bottom right corner (or left… depending on your settings) to the middle of your iPhone or iPod Touch’s screen. This will bring up a list of applications. You can then drag your finger up and down to scroll through the applications. Once you are on the app that you would like to launch, just let go and it will launch. You can choose the applications you would like in each Dock via the apps settings. [Read more…]

SpotBright – Makes Spotlight Search Launch Hidden Apps

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SpotBright SpotBright is an application that was created to enhance the Spotlight search feature on firmware 3.0. The app allows hidden apps to be launched and “keeps a list of recently launched applications, so you can use them at a moment’s notice.”

When I tested this app, the ability to launch hidden applications worked great. My hidden applications showed up in my Spotlight search and I was able to tap on them and they launched.

The other feature of SpotBright is that it displays little icons of the six most recently launched applications on the Spotlight search page of your SpringBoard (see screenshot below). This allows you to quickly launch applications that you have just used. [Read more…]

Our local AT&T store will be opening at 7:00am (normally they open at 10:00am) for pre-order customers and once they are done with the pre-order customers, they will open the doors to everyone else.

Our Apple store is implementing a different strategy. They are going to be opening at 7:00am (normally open at 10:00am) to everyone however, they will have two lines; one for pre-order customers and one for those who have not pre-ordered. [Read more…]

Available In: cydia       Price: Free

LockDockBar LockDockBar is an application that allows you to launch your Phone, Mail, SMS and Calendar apps from your lock screen. When you install LockDockBar, it will automatically add the icons to your lock screen (it does not add an icon for the app to your SpringBoard). You can then launch and use any of the four application right from your lock screen. Once you are finished using any of the apps, you will be brought back to your lock screen. If you select the Home button at any point while using the apps, you will also be brought back to your lock screen. AppFlow Yesterday, Erica released AppFlow via Cydia (for firmware 2.0).
