Lock Calendar Lock Calendar is a simple application that allows you to display your upcoming calendar events on your lock screen. I know there are a few other applications that also allow for this functionality on firmware 2.x (IntelliScreen, RemindYou) however, both are paid applications. Lock Calendar is free. When you install Lock Calendar, your events will automatically start to display on your lock screen…you do not turn the app on via WinterBoard. It will display your next ten upcoming events. The events are categorized by date and also display the time and title of the event. The app has a decent design and showed up nicely on all the wallpapers that I tested. Read more

New “Always-On” Display for the iPhone?

Apple It seems that Apple has put out a patent on a new display technology. The patent shows a sort of two-layer backlight system that would allow for an “always-on” display for the iPhone while at the same time using very little battery power. This would allow for a sort of status notification without having to turn the iPhone on essentially giving you the ability to see if you have a missed call, text message, voicemail or a new email. This would be very similar to some of the lock screen status notification applications available on jailbroke iPhones but, without even having to turn your iPhone on! AppleInsider has a very nice article about the patent that include a few images. Below is a quote from the article and one of the patent images.

AiS Ok, for the longest time I have not been able to figure out how to easily take a screenshot of my lock screen on my iPhone. Honestly, I was hoping we would see Capture updated for the 2.x firmware but since it has not happened yet I decided I better try a different method (though, I am still hoping to see Capture!)! Here is what I figured out…ok, Doug actually told me about it! :) Either way, below are step-by-step instructions on how to take a screenshot of your lock screen on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

1. Installer UIKits Tools via Cydia

Available In: Cydia       Price: $4.99 – $49.99

IntelliScreen In the last few days, there have been a few updates to IntelliScreen. The updates do not add any new features, they are just bug fixes. Below you will find the complete list of bug fixes for both versions. I have noticed that on my lock screen sometimes my passcode will display behind all the info on my lock screen. I can still enter my passcode and it works…I think it is just a glitch, it happens randomly!! Read more

IntelliScreen 2.2

Available In: cydia       Price: $4.99 – $49.99

intelliscreen There is an update to IntelliScreen 2.2, a lock screen enhancing application, in Cydia today. Below is a complete list of changes, bug fixes and known problems. One things that I did find interesting is that the update is said to make IntelliScreen compatible with firmware 2.1 however, Doug and I have both been using IntelliScreen on our 2.1 for a while now and it seemed to work fine. So, I’m not sure what the deal is with that.

One cool new feature includes a new vibration alert that will vibrate with; Mail=2 fast beeps, SMS=2 slow beeps, Call/VM=3 beeps, Calendar=4 beeps. Another cool new feature is that after you make your changes in IntelliScreen, it no longer resprings the SpringBoard. After you make the change and select Apply, the app just closes. It is kind of weird at first because you expect it to respring but I definitly like it!! They also say that that overall InteillScreen is Read more

iPhone Passcode Not as Secure as Once Thought!

Settings I found out read today that there is a work around for the iPhone’s Passcode, making the iPhone not as secure as I once thought it was! It seems that when your iPhone is locked and you are prompted to enter your Passcode, you can select Emergency Call and then double tap your Home Button and it will launch your double tap settings. Meaning, if you have your Favorites set as your Home Button double tap (your iPhone’s Home Button double tap is set automatically to your Favorites so, if you have never changed it in your Settings, that it what it is set as), people are able to get into your Favorites even if your iPhone is locked.

At first this may not seems like an issue. So, they might call a few of the people on your Favorites list. Well, it also means that if you have an address, email address, Safari link, etc in any of the info for your contacts they can get into all of that as well. If you have an email address set for one of your favorites, Read more

IntelliScreen 2.01

Available In: Cydia       Price: $4.99 – $49.99

IntelliScreen The update to version 2.01 of IntelliScreen just makes a few changes to the application. The two visual changes include the ability to choose alert sounds (see screenshots below) and an IntelliDial screen even if you do not have any Favorites selected. Now, if you press the Home button to go to IntelliDial and you do not have any Favorites selected you will get a screen that says, “IntelliDial uses your contact favorites. You have no favorite contacts.” There was also one bug fix that had to do with the app not starting. Other than that, no major changes. Though, I sure am glad to have IntelliScreen back! I really missed this app!! You can get IntelliScreen 2.01 in Cydia via the Intelliborn source.
