fring 0.9785

fring There are no visual changes with version 0.9875 of fring. However, below is a list of the changes (via the developer).

1. Issues resulting in deleted SMS (additional QA work on our side still in progress).
2. mVoIP calls on 1.1.2 are now fully supported.
3. Incoming SIP calls are also available with this new version.

I still think the app is a little sketchy. I am able to randomly make outgoing calls to Skype from my iPhone. I still am unable to make calls from Skype to my iPhone. Let me know if you have the same results. fring is available through the fring source.

iFob 1.45

iFob When I went to do a review on the update for iFob…I remembered how cool it actually was! Just the thought of a native social networking app that informs you when you are near other people who have iPhones is just so very cool! I would love to hear about your experiences with this app. If you have ever used it and if you actually met another iPhone user, a total stranger, through iFob! The possibilities! Ok, now for the updates! The update to iFob adds a new option that I think is really helpful! In the Settings, you are now able to turn on/off the ability to see yourself on the Near list. I honestly like the ability to turn this option on because, [Read more…]

Twitxr 0.5

Twitxr Twitxr is an iPhone app for the website Twitrx.com. Twitxr allows you to publish a picture to your Twitter account. From the iPhone you can either take a photo from within Twitxr or pull photos from your camera roll. If you choose to take a picture it will show up in your camera roll later. Once you choose your picture you just type your text and send it. It posts to your Twitxr account which then posts to your Twitter with a link to the photo. Other features include seeing other users pics from Twitxr, recording your location (is only seen on the Twitxr website) and toggle for high res picture (turn off for faster edge experience). MobileTwitter 1.5

MobileTwitter I have been testing this app for a few days (before it was publicly released tonight) and there are many updates including some color changes to black, very nice. Also, the only problem that I had with the app has been fixed, the keyboard has been moved down! Now, I don’t hit other buttons when going for the space bar. Oh, and an updated icon! Below is the full list of changes and screenshots. Mobile Twitter is available through the Ste Packaging source.

fring

fring This app is real Skype for the iPhone, and more. I am testing this app as I write this and so far I have successfully used Skype over wifi and the call worked perfect! You can get more info at Fring.com. fring is available through the fring source.

You can also twitter from this app, ICQ, MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo & AIM.

Watch fring from your iPhone or iPod Touch

As I’m writing this I’m also getting updates from twitter into fring. When you close fring it warns you it’s running in the background, if you don’t want it to you need to hit the exit button instead of the home button when exiting. [Read more…]

Twinkle 0.7

Twinkle I was soo excited when I woke up this morning and saw Twinkle in the Installer!! When Doug wrote about it the other day…it was still in private beta! But, now everyone can enjoy it!! I really like this twitter app, better than all the others I have used. There doesn’t seem to be any new features from the things Doug talked about in the Last Post about Twinkle. So, install and enjoy! Twinkle is available through the Polar Bear Farm source.

Twinkle 0.7

Twinkle RC 4

Twinkle While testing MobileTwitter I posted a tweet that I was reviewing a new Twitter app for the iPhone and someone twittered back asking if it was Twinkle. So I thought I’d try it out too. Twinkle is very well designed and has some really sweet features. One is the Near Me feature. I can see tweets around me from ranges 1 to 252,000 miles. Of course that means that it will post your location too (this can be turned off). Another sweet feature is you can attach a photo to your tweet. It looks like only other Twinkle users can see the image. It would be sweet if it would post a link to the photo like iTwitxr. As expected, it comes with the standard twitter features of replying to tweets, sending private messages, viewing profiles, public timeline, etc.

Here’s the bad news… [Read more…]

iChabber 0.9

iChabberVersion 0.9 of iChabber is an update from 0.2, and I found one change. The login screen gives you alot more options for entering in your user name and password. Check out the screen shot below to see the additions. I did however have a problem with this app, when I try to start typing a new message I cannot see anything that I type appear on the screen. I can even send it, and i see my name in the chat list, but nothing besides my name. Is this just a bug for me, or have you had the same problems? Comment below! [Read more…]

MobileTwitter 1.4

MobileTwitter I am very excited about this app. I use twitter and have been using hahlo.com with great success. Now, to have it on my iPhone as an app! This app has all kinds of feature:

Your timeline (you + those you follow)
Direct messages
Public timeline
Updating your Twitter status
Reply directly to tweets from MobileTwitter
Open Tweets in MobileSafari (handy for clicking on links..)
Direct message authors of tweets [Read more…]

iChabber 0.2

iChabber This app allows you to chat using your gmail account or other jabber account. I’ve tested it and it works. Very fast over WiFi. Simple setup, just type in your username and password. You can use a proxy if you’d like but it’s not necessary. I think it would be nicer if it looked more like the stock SMS. I don’t like going to a separate screen to type than the history page. It would also be kewl if a badge appeared when on the springboard when you have new messages. There is also a User button in the buddy list menu that doesn’t do anything for me. Available through the iSpazio Source.

SwirlyMMS 0.3.8

SwirlyMMS Many of you will be happy to see version 0.3.8 for SwirlyMMS. There are no visual changes but, after the last release I know we had a few comments from people saying that the app didn’t work (could not send or receive Multi-Media texts) after updating to the previous version. Hopefully this version fixes those issues. Let me know in the comments! SwirlyMMS is available through the Swirlyspace source. This app is also available through the Ste Packaging source however, [Read more…]

MobileChat 2.21

MobileChat is an AIM application for the iPhone. This is really a nice app…honestly I’m not sure I have seen one better than this. When you first open the app you will come to a blank screen (which will eventually show a list of all your accounts) where you can Add an Account or Edit your Account list (which allows you to delete an account). You will want to start by adding an Account. When you tap on Add Account you are brought to a list of AIM services you can choose from including; AOL, .mac, XMPP, msn and icq. Just tap on the one you would like to add…then type in your screenname and password for that account and tap Save in the upper right corner. You will be brought back to the main list. To sign into an account, just tap on it. Once you have selected an account, it will sign you in…this process takes a little while so be patient…it will give you a warning if it cannot connect…if you don’t have a warning or you are not connected…just wait! Once you are connected [Read more…]
