QuickLock 2 is a basically the original QuickLock mod updated for the iOS 4 firmware. Like the original, this mod allows you to quickly lock your device with one tap on your SpringBoard. Once the app is installed, it adds an icon to the SpringBoard. Just tap the icon and your device will go into lock mode. It’s quick and simple!

Just in case some of you have missed it… we are now doing podcasts (I think that is what we are calling them!). Anyway, those of you from back-in-the-day probably remember iPhone 101 well, it has been renamed to i101 (I know, we are totally copying Apple), shortened and done more often. They will be similar to iPhone 101 in that we will do product reviews, app reviews, talk about app updates, stay up-to-date on jailbreak and unlock news, talk about general news…
etc. Only, this time it will include the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad…
hence i101. The episodes show up on the left side of the home page on under the ‘Featured Video’ section and in the blog… so, click that Blog button! We were out ‘n about over the Holiday week-end but, we are starting back up tonight!

Today, Apple released four new iPhone 4 ads; Meet Her, Haircut, Smile and Big News. All four commercials demonstrate the FaceTime feature of the iPhone 4. Personally, I’m not a huge fan… check them out and let us know what you think.
Ok, I’m sorry, but this guy totally cracks me up. With just a few days until I have baby #3 (yes, it is currently nameless… we are working on that!)… I could definitely use a good laugh and this video did the trick! Not only is the guy just funny but, I love what he says at the end of the video. I also think it’s hillarious that Apple opened their press conference today with this video. I’m sure many of you have already seen it but if you haven’t… totally worth checking out (video below).

Pandora updated their iPhone app to finally support running in the background. It’s using Apple’s new APIs to keep the audio streaming in the background but close down the rest of the app to save battery life. It worked well on my iPhone 3GS and the new iPod controls in the dock now support Pandora when it’s open.
Backgrounding this app only works on iOS 4 which means it doesn’t background on the iPad. Below is what it looks like.

GeoHot was recently doing a presentation at a conference and talked all about the iPhone exploits. Be ready, he goes into some great detail about it but here’s the key phrase:
“There is also, I hinted to this a couple times, an unreleased exploit in every iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in the bootrom to get code execution. And you know if I ever do another jailbreak, that’s the exploit I have. If you’ve seen I posted like a picture of 4.0 jailbroken. I posted my iPad jailbroken. All before Spirit was released. And I used like a completely different set of exploits which maybe when iPhone 4 comes out will be out.”

Apple has released iBooks for the iPhone. You must have iOS 4 in order the install iBooks on your device. It comes with all the features of the iPad version. Speaking of the iPad version, there was an update to it today also. Some were features like the ability to add notes to your bookmarks and bookmark syncing across devices. We have known about the new features of the iPhone 4.0 firmware since Apple’s OS 4.0 event in April. Jobs reminded us of a few of those features during today’s WWDC Keynote however, below are basics on when the firmware will be available, how much it will cost and who it will be available for.

Previously, Skype for the iPhone would only let you make calls from the iPhone if it was connected to Wifi. Now you can make them even when on the 3G cellular network. It doesn’t say anything about EDGE so I’m guessing it won’t work there. I even got it to work on EDGE. Check the video below. There are also some other improvements with the recent update including enhanced call quality indicator and improved start-up time. See below for a complete list.
Of course there is a catch to all of this. AT&T is only promising this to be a free service until the end of August 2010, then they may charge a small monthly fee. [Read more…]
MatteFusionGZ is a simple and clean WinterBoard theme that contains 70 matte icons, a dock, status bar and badge. There are a few things to note about this theme.
The SMS icon is labeled incorrectly so the themed icon does not display when you active the theme in WinterBoard. To change this, you can ssh into (or use iFile on your device) the /library/Themes/MatteFusionGZ/Icons folder and rename Text.png to Messages.png. It will then display the themed SMS icon.
