The One Ring – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

The One Ring theoneringtheme2 The One Ring is a Lord of the Rings inspired theme. The theme contains a wallpaper, lock screen background, status bar, badges, sliders, lock screen battery, 79 icons, loading screen, calculator mod, dialer mod and basically an entire UI mod. Usually I do not write about themes that are based off thins like Lord of the Rings or Mickey Mouse or whatever but, this one is very complete. The only issue is that it is packaged for firmware 2.x so that Message app doesn’t have an icon. That can be easily fixed by sshing into the Library/Themes/The One Ring/Icons folder and changes Texts.png to Messages.png. You can get The One Ring Theme via the BigBoss source. [Read more…]

Work Around for FontSwap on 3.0 Firmware

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

FontSwap Those of you who use FontSwap, an application that allows you to change the fonts on your iPhone or iPod Touch, probably know that the app has not been updated to work on the 3.0 firmware. When I tested FontSwap on an iPhone running 3.0, it did not crash the device (as some claim it has done) however, the fonts did not change. I did some searching and found a way to make it work manually. This method requires ssh and overwriting of files so, make sure you are comfortable with both those things before you begin. The instructions below were originally written by dazzastark (via modmyi)…I did make a few modifications to them. There is a link to the original post below the instructions. [Read more…]

Change the Theme on an iPhone 3GS without Jailbreaking

settings I know some of you are bummed that you can’t jailbreak your iPhone 3GS. Well, if you are craving a new theme, you’re in luck…Apple gave you an option. You can invert your iPhone so that it is white on black instead of black on white. Apple says it is for people who have difficulty seeing black on white or to make it easier to see at night. I say, they are secretly coming over to the dark side! If you would like to change your iPhone’s theme so that it is White on Black just head over to your stock Settings application, the General Option, the Accessibility option and you will see a White on Black feature….just turn that guy On. MakeItMine I know many of you are probably familiar with the app MakeItMine which allows you to easily customize your Carrier Logo and Banner (that is the area where the time is located on the Status Bar). When you open the app, just enter the emoticons like you would your custom text (see note below). Simple and easy.

Apple Changes iPhone 3G S to iPhone 3GS

I can not tell you how happy it makes me to see that Apple is quietly (yes, quietly) changing the name of the iPhone 3G S to the iPhone 3GS. I have actually been watching this for a couple of days now. It started with their Press Releases and News Headlines. I was waiting until they made changes on their actual website before writing anything. Last night, they finally changed their iPhone 3GS information page to say iPhone 3GS instead of iPhone 3G S. Updated F.A.Q Page – How to Change your Dialer.

AiS Hey guys, as you already know, in between writing articles and working on the new website, I have been working on updating our F.A.Q page to be more relevant to the 2.x firmware. Tonight I updated our “How do I change the dialer on my iPhone?” There honestly is not a lot of difference in modding your dialer from firmware 1.1.x to the 2.x firmware…the steps are basically the same and the modded folder (MobilePhone.app) is still the same. So, if you used to manually change your dialer on 1.1.x firmware but haven’t given it a shot on the 2.x firmware…you can check out the instructions. The only thing I will say is that some dialer files are made for specific firmwares so make sure you are downloading a dialer that is for the firmware you are running.

Transformer 2.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Transformer I saw an application in Cydia today called Transformer. It is an app that allows you to make your iPod Touch look more like an iPhone. According to the more info, you can add iPhone Prefs, Signal Bars and iPhone Apps (Phone, SMS, Camera) to your iPod Touch. We do not have any test iPod Touches (all of our test phones are iPhones). But, I’m curious to know if this application works well. So, if you are one of the people brave enough to test it out, let me know in the comments how it worked for you! Transformer is available via the ModMyi source.

SpoofApp now available via Cydia

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SpoofApp It is nice to see a few familiar apps being released for firmware 2.0. SpoofApp is an app that allows you to record calls, change your voice when making a call and change the display number when you make a call. There are a few change with the new version of the application. When you open SpoofApp, it will look basically the same. The Recordings option on the lower menu bar has a new icon and the Free Minutes button in the upper right corner has been changed to a Help option. When you open the Settings you will notice that they have changed slightly. Besides having a new look, there is also the option to turn on/off the Keypad Sounds.

The Buy Minutes options has also improved. The cost of the minutes has not changed (prices listed below). You are also still able to get five free minutes.
