iLocalis 1.0.1-3 – Track your iPhone!

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free 10 day trial then 5 EUR

iLocalis iLocalis is an application that allows you to track your iPhone. I had a viewer tell me about this application about four days ago or so and Doug and I have been testing it ever since. When you search for iLocalis is Cydia, you will also see an iLocalis Daemon package. You just need to install the iLocalis package…it will install the daemon automatically. Once you have the application installed, you will want to open it. The first thing you need to do is register your iPhone.

Once you have registered your iPhone, you can login to the application. This will bring you to the main menu with the options; My Location, Friends, Share Map, Settings and Extend Accounts. My Location will give you a Google map (inside the application) of where you were when it last checked for your location. It will display how long ago that location was taken, show you a Google map, give you the exact time and date of the location and give you an estimate on how accurate the location is (in meters). Street View Enabler – Street View on the iPod Touch

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Street View Enabler One of the coolest new features of firmware 2.2 is Google Street View. Well, as many of you already know, the iPod Touch did not receive this new feature with the update. Though, I did hear that the iPod Touch got a nice processor increase making it faster than the iPhone! Very cool! Anyway, no need to sulk over not having Street View on your iPod Touch any longer! Last night, Street View Enabler showed up in Cydia. It seems that if you are on firmware 2.2 (BE SURE YOU ARE ON FIRMWARE 2.2, or newer, BEFORE INSTALLING!!) you can install Street View Enabler and join in the fun. If you gave it a try, let me know in the comments how it is working for you.

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

txtpedia We get a ton of emails everyday from developers of applications asking us to take a look at their apps. When you open txtpedia, you will notice a search bar and an alphabetical list of abbreviations. You can either search for the abbreviation you are looking for or scroll down through the letters until you find it. Once you have found the abbreviation you are looking for, you can select it to see what the abbreviation stands for. It will also show other possible abbreviations for the same phrase or if the abbreviation can stand for more that one phrase.

NatsuLion for iPhone – Twitter Client

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

NatsuLion NatsuLion for iPhone is a new Twitter application that was released in the App Store just in the last week. Doug has been doing a few reviews of Twitter apps so I thought I would get one in too! :) When you open NatsuLion, you will first need to enter your Twitter User Name and Password. Along the bottom of the application you will notice a menu bar with the options; Friends, Replies, Sents, Unreads and Settings. The Friends option is your main twitter feed of all you and your friend’s tweets. If you select one of the tweets, it will open the tweet full screen giving you the option to reply to the tweet or make it a favorite. You also have the option to see all of that friend’s tweets by selecting the @friend’sname option. One great feature of this application is that if there is a link, you can select it and it will open the link right in the application (you can change this in the Settings if you would prefer it open via Safari)! Now, a few downfalls are that you cannot easily direct message a friend. You can select reply and then change the @ to a d but, there is no actually direct message option. The second is that you cannot click on a link without opening the tweet and then selecting the link. I also think it would be nice to have the option to see who a friend is following and who is following that friend.

MCallShow 1.1

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free 15 Day Trial – $4.99

MCallShow There has been another release for MCallShow. I tend to keep an eye on the updates for this application because in the past it has never worked quite right for me so, I like to check out the updates to see if things have improved. MCallShow is an application which gives you more detailed location based information about incoming and outgoing calls. It seems that the user interface has not drastically changed however, the database for the application has changed. It used to be when you opened the app, it would automatically find your local Country. Now it seems that you need to actually install the database for your Country. The current Country databases include, Australia, China, England, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Thailand. There website says that there is also a database for the USA/Canada but, I did not see that is Cydia. [Read more…]

MailSearch 1.1

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

MailSearchI actually tested this application yesterday but, had some issues with it crashing back to the SpringBoard so, I was happy to see an update for it this morning. MailSearch is a simple application that allows you to quickly search through your email. The nice thing about this application is that it searches through all your email accounts. When you open MailSearch, you will get the main search page where you can enter any keyword or phrase.

Once you have entered what you would like to search for, select Search. You will then get a list of relevant findings from any of the email accounts you have set up on your iPhone or iPod Touch. You can then select an email to see the full email content. However, it only gives you the basic text of the email and doesn’t work well with emails that have a lot of graphics. But, the word or phrase that you searched for will be highlighted within the email so that is nice. That is basically where the functionality stops. [Read more…]

Snow Report 1.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Snow ReportThe title of this application caught my attention though, I love to ski and snowboard so I might be slightly bias! :) Colorado Snow Report is an application that displays the Colorado Snow Reports. When you first open the app you will only get information for a few resorts. However, if you select View All, you will get a much larger list. You can then select the Edit button in the upper left corner and rearrange the list or delete resorts off the list.

Now, the information the application gives you on the main list is the resort name and the amount of snow they have had in the past 24 hours. If you select a resort you will get a lot more information about the resort such as a live webcam, how much snow they have had in the last 48 hours, the base depth, whether the resort is open or closed, the ability to view a detailed snow report, ability to call the resort and the ability to go to the resorts website!! So very very cool! Also, when on the main list of resorts…the resorts that are darker are the ones that are open.

Google Earth for the iPhone and iPod Touch

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

Google EarthGoogle Earth is now available in the App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The application works great, even on EDGE. Zooming and panning works like the Google Maps app but with Google Earth you can even tilt to adjust angle. In the top left corner there is a search icon which allows you to search near you or anywhere else in the world. The top right has a compass that shows the direction; tapping it returns you to North being at the top. In the bottom left there is a button for your current location. The button in the bottom right gets you into the settings where you can turn on and off options for Wikipedia, Panoramio, borders, autotilt and others.

Search 1.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Search Search is an application that allows you to search for keywords in your Mail, SMS, Notes, Contacts and even on the web. When you open Search, you will notice a lower menu bar with the options; Mail, SMS, Notes, Contacts and Web. At the top of the screen is a Search bar. You can select any of the options in the lower menu bar and then use the search bar to search within that application. The thing that I like about this application is that once it has found an entry you can then select it to see the full Email, SMS message, Note, Contact etc. The Web option will search Google keeping you in the application instead of directing you to Safari so…that is also nice.

WootWatch for Today’s Woot-Off!

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

WootWatchWe’ve wrote about Woot before with the application called Woot Assist but with today’s woot-off I’ve found something better called WootWatch. If you’re not familiar with Woot, they sell one item per day at bargain prices until it’s sold out, then you have to wait until the next day for a new product. Every once in a while they do a woot off where once the item is sold out they do a different one all day long.

WootWatch is very nice. At the top you get a nice image of the item, and if there are two images you can swipe to see the other. Double tapping the image brings it full screen, then just tap the x to go back. Under the title is the item’s title and price. Swipping up on the title brings up the full description full screen. Tap the title again to go back. There is a refresh button in the bottom left, and a W! button in the bottom right that takes you to the full site in Safari. The center has a “I want one!” button to purchase the item, again through Safari. [Read more…]
