No ZiPhone Jailbreak for 2.0?

ZiPhone I was reading Zibri’s blog today and ran across the paragraph below. Does this mean no ZiPhone jailbreak for 2.0? Let me know what you think in the comments.

“Dev team did an impressive team work this time and even if I don’t personally like the tool I see no other way to do things on 2.0. (If I’ll see one I’ll tell you) :)

Labyrinth Lite Edition 1.0

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

If you had a jailbroke iPhone, this application will feel very familiar. It is basically the Installer version of the application ported to 2.0 and added to the App Store. The Lite Edition of Labyrinth gives you ten levels to play (which is basically enough to get you totally addicted…forcing you to upgrade to the full version :) ). The full version of the application is $6.99. When you open Labyrinth, you will get the main screen with three options on the lower menu bar; Play, Settings and Credits. In the Settings option you have the ability to turn on/off the Game time limit and the ability to Calibrate your iPhone. To get back to the main menu, select Back in the lower left corner.

To start the application, select Play on the lower menu bar. Here you will see that only one level pack is available with the Lite Version of the application. When you select the Level Pack, it will bring you directly into the first level of the game. The object of the game is to get the silver ball to the checkered ball without falling in the holes by tilting your iPhone. When you are in the game, [Read more…]

More Apps being Ported to 2.0

firmware 2.0 It seems that quite a few developers are busy converting, re-writing and tweaking apps to work on firmware 2.0. Even though we are still waiting for Installer to be ported to 2.0, Cydia is available and continues to have applications added. We know that the developer of some of our favorite apps (moleskine, TimeCapsule, WildEyes…) is working hard on getting the apps ported over to 2.0. BigBoss is also working hard on getting his apps ported to 2.0, below is what he has to say about a few of the apps that have been ported so far.

BossPrefs BossPrefs v2.0.2a (alpha). This is the first working version for 2.0 devices. There will be some issues but the major stuff should work. The airplane / phone toggles are not implemented, the add plugin GUI is not implemented, and there may be some other minor issues. I think double tap home needs some work. The bulk of it works. I put it out immediately because there was no other way to toggle SSH. Wil update it again very soon.

Cube Runner 1.0

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

Cube Runner is an application that I have seen in the App Store since the very beginning but, I never had a chance to check it out. Well, as I was sitting down to do a review of another application…I got distracted playing Cube Runner and thought I would a review of it instead! :) Cube Runner is a simple game where you guide your ship through a landscape of cubes. It uses the iPhone’s accelerometer to move the ship. When you open the application, you will get the main screen where you have three options; Select Level Pack (easy, medium or hard), Start New Game and an information icon. The information icon will give you another menu with the options; Instructions, Change to Landscape, Calibration, Clear High Score, Manage Level Packs and About. Everything on this menu is pretty self explanatory and very simple. The Manage Level Packs option does allow you to Add and Remove level packs which is pretty cool. Additional level packs can be added [Read more…]

Colorware – Custom Paint Your iPhone

ColorwareColorware is a company that will permanently color your iPhone. You can choose from many colors including metallic. Unfortunately this process will most likely void your warranty because the device is taken apart during the process so they include a 30 day parts and 1 year labor warranty covering the coloring and hardware. They also do corporate branding so you can add your company logo or whatever you want to the back of your iPhone. Also, don’t worry about scratching the paint, their patented X2 coating keeps your iPhone scratch resistant. Not only is the back able to be colored but also the metal frame, home button, earbuds, and dock. There’s no word yet when this will be available for the iPhone 3G. Here’s the breakdown for pricing: [Read more…]

WinPwn…Getting Closer to being Ready for Firmware 2.0

Though we have already seen the release of Pwnage 2.0 as a jailbreak option for firmware 2.0, some of us (that includes Doug and I) are anxiously awaiting the release of WinPwn, the windows version of Pwnage. We do not have any hard evidence of when it is going to be released but the guys over at WinPwn.com say that we can expect to see it in the next few days. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Once it has been released we will do a full article on how to use it and how it worked for us. Though, as of now, Installer is still not available for firmware 2.0 and there have not been many application ported over. Let me know in the comments if those of you on 1.1.4 and below will update to 2.0 and jailbreak right away or if you will hang out on your jailbroke 1.1.4 for a little while.

Sudoku Unlimited 1.0

Available In: App Store       Price: $2.99

I have don’t even know how many hours I have spent going through the App Store looking at screenshots, reading descriptions, comments and change logs of every Sudoku application there is. Well, I finally decided on one…Sudoku unlimited. It seemed to have all the features I was looking for at a price that was affordable to the majority of people. When you open Sudoku Unlimited, you will get the main screen where you have the ability to Continue a previously started game, choose from five difficulty levels (I’m New, I’m OK, I’m Good, I’m Awesome and I’m Clinically Insane) and go into the Setting.

In the Settings you have the option to turn on/off a number of Settings including; [Read more…]

MCallShow 1.0

Available In: Installer       Price: Free

MCallShowMCallShow is an application that allows you to search for information based on a phone number. When you open the application, you will get a screen saying that you have a 15 day trial before you will need to purchase the app. However, when I went to the applications website to see how much it would cost to purchase the app it says $0.00. So, I’m not sure what the deal is with that! You can just select Cancel to be brought to the the main screen where you will see the options; Local Country (which will automatically be filled in for you), a search bar, City, Region, Others, Country and Contact. You are then able to enter a phone number into the Search bar and it will display the City, Region, Others, Country and Contact for the phone number.

However, this application does not work for me…well, maybe it does and I just don’t know it! When I enter a phone number and select search, [Read more…]

Neverball 1.2.1

Available In: Installer       Price: Free

#Neverball The update to version 1.2.1 of Neverball makes a few changes to the Settings option. In the Settings there is still a Calibrate option however, it has changed slightly. You can now select one of two icons that will adjust how much your iPhone will be tilted when you play the game. Once you have chosen one of the two icons, you can then calibrate your iPhone. Just tilt your iPhone until the yellow boxes, on both the side and bottom of the screen, are in the middle of the red line then select Calibrate Centre. It will say that it has saved your Calibration. You also have the ability to choose between three sensitivities; Low, Medium and High. I found that the Setting with [Read more…]

WordPress 1.0

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

WordpressWordPress is finally out for the iPhone and it works great. There are a couple features missing but I’ll get to those in a minute. The app usually opens to a list of your blogs but the first time you need to select “Set up your blog” from the menu. Just enter the blog’s URL, your username and password, and select how many recent posts to show from 10-50.

One you get a blog or two set up the app will open right to a list of all your blogs. Tapping on the blue arrow next to the blog title takes you to the login settings. Tapping on the name brings you to a list most recent posts and your local drafts. Local drafts means only articles you’ve written on your iPhone but haven’t published yet. There is also a refresh button in the bottom right and a Write button in the bottom left. Tapping on any article title brings you to an editing screen. It’s laid out just like the Write screen. Here you can enter the Title, Tags, Categories, Publishing Status, and content for the body of the post. Tags have to be hand typed in but you can choose categories from your predetermined list, select more than one, and even add a new category. [Read more…]

Super Monkey BallThis game looked like so much fun in all the demo videos but until they fix the controls, it’s not worth the buy. Made by Sega, this game is played in landscape mode.

IntelliScreen 1.09 & 1.09b

Available In: Installer       Price: $4.99-$49.99

IntelliScreen The update to version 1.09 of IntelliScreen fixes a few bugs and adds one new feature. The update to version 1.09b of IntelliScreen fixes a bug that made the app crash if it was the first time it was being installed. The new feature on version 1.09 is the ability to add a Location Label to weather locations. The only way to see utilize this new feature is if you delete your Weather locations and re-add them. Because there is no way to edit previously added locations. However, when you add a new location, you will notice a Location Label option. When you add a Location Label, [Read more…]
