QuickTip – Change the New Text Message Sound

It’s time for anther QuickTip! It has been a while since I have wrote a QuickTip (a very simple tip about the iPhone or iPod Touch) and I thought I better get back to it. I was actually reminded of this quicktip while we were on vacation last week.

QuickTip: To change the sound your iPhone makes when receiving a new text message, you can go into the stock Settings application then the Sounds option and then the New Text Message option. Here you will see seven options in which you can choose from; None, Tri-tone, Chime, Glass, Horn, Bell and Electronic (all iPhones come stock with the Tri-tone sound enabled).

You can tap on the name of a sound to get a quick demo of it. Once you select a sound, it will make that sound every time you receive a new text message. [Read more…]

Ghost Ice – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Ghost Ice ghosticetheme4 Ghost Ice is a WinterBoard theme that contains a wallpaper, dock, sliders, lock screen background, 42 icons, lock screen battery and a few other small mods. As with most themes, this one does take a little ssh work to get it to look completely correct. Because this theme is from a primarily French repository, some of the icons need to be renamed (from French to English). You can ssh into the Library/Themes/Ghost-Ice.theme/Icons folder and rename the following three icons; Calendrier to Calendar, Horloge to Clock and Appareil photo to Camera. Once that is done, everything should look correct. You can get Ghost Ice via the SOSiPhone source [Read more…]

ultrasn0w It seems that while we were on vacation, ultrasn0w was updated to version 0.9. GPower GPower is an application that allows you to Power Off, Reboot and Respring your iPhone or iPod Touch all from your main Power Off screen. Lockdown – Password Protect Your Applications

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Lockdown Lockdown, is an application that allows you to password protect other applications (stock, App Store and jailbroke) on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I haven’t done a review of this Lockdown since it was first released. However, I received an email saying that it has been updated and is now working with the 3.0 firmware (which it is).

The UI of the app has changed a little since my first review of the app but, other than that…it is basically the same. You are able to password protect stock, App Store and jailbroke apps that are on your device. A few of the new features I noticed is a Locked Apps option which allows you to quickly view all the apps that are locked, instead of having to scroll through the list of them to find which ones are locked.
