BossPrefs 2.12b

There have been a few updates to BossPrefs since the last time I did a review of the application. Most of the updates have been bug fixes or behind the scenes changes. Whirlwind21 1.1.0

The update to version 1.1.0 of Whirlwind21 makes a few changes to the application. The first change you will notice is a new icon. There are no changes to the app looks or plays however, there is a new Help button. In the upper right corner of the app, the About option has been replaced with a Help option. In the Help option, you will get basic info on how to play the game, scoring rules and copyright info about the app. The Scoring Rules are nice because there were a few that I didn’t know about…like the 5 Card Charlie. biteSMS 2.0-1

The update to biteSMS now allows you to the app as your default SMS app…very cool. Another cool new feature of the update is when you have a missed/unread text and you open biteSMS, it will open directly to the conversation with the missed text. Below is the full change log and screenshots.

biteSMS 2.0-1 Change Log:
    • Ability to make biteSMS the default SMS application (configured via biteSMS settings page, defaults to OFF).This controls the following characteristics:
        – If ON, when clicking to Reply to an incoming SMS alert, you’ll be taken into biteSMS instead of the Apple SMS application.
        – If ON, the badge that denotes how many SMS’s are unread will be shown against the biteSMS icon instead of the Apple SMS icon.
        – ON or OFF, incoming SMS messages containing biteSMS credits are handled in a more user friendly fashion.
    • Fixed the issue, whereby if an error was displayed during the sending of an SMS, then it would exit back to the Home screen.

Kate available in Installer 4.0

I was excited to see Kate was finally available for firmware 2.0 via the Installer. It is a public beta version of the application. I personally am a huge fan of Kate and really miss the features that I use it for. However, when I try to install the app, I get an error. The error says, “Failed script command on line 2: ChangeMode.” Then my iPhone crashed back to the SpringBoard. I was totally bummed…I was looking forward to checking it out. Let me know in the comments if you are getting the same error.

Update:: Below is a list of features that Kate 2.0b4 has. I do think that it is cool that if you previously registered the app, it will carry over to this version of Kate.

All Components:
    • First public beta for firmware 2.0. Can be installed from the repository http://i.ripdev.com/ using Installer 4.
    • All included components reworked to work under 2.0.x with the same functionality. We will expand on the featureset soon.
    • Existing subscriptions will work; you can also request a trial or check your subscription by visiting Settings > RiP Dev > RiP Dev Products preference pane.

WinterBoard 0.9.2520-2

The update to WinterBoard 0.9.2520-2 makes some significant changes to the how the application works. When you open WinterBoard you will notice that you now have the ability to move files around using the three bars to the right of the files. You can also choose more than one file. Now, here is where it can get a little tricky.

The files take priority based on which file comes first. So lets say you have added a few files to Winterboard and they include, a file that is a transparent dock, a file that is a pink status bar and a file with your favorite theme. If you choose your theme file but, your theme doesn’t have a transparent dock and you prefer if it does, you can choose both the transparent dock file and the theme files. You would then move the transparent dock file before your theme file. That way the transparent dock would overwrite the dock that come with the theme.

SMSNotify 2.0

SMSNotify is an application that will allow your iPhone to vibrate when you have a missed text message or a new voicemail. This is actually not a new application, it is also available via Installer for firmware 1.1.4 and below. However, the app has changed slightly. In SMSNotify 2.0, if you have a missed text, your iPhone will vibrate three times and if you have a new voicemail, your iPhone will vibrate two times. However, this only works if your iPhone is in sleep mode (or lock mode). If your iPhone is plugged in or not in sleep mode, the app will not make your iPhone vibrate. ‘

IntelliScreen 2.01

The update to version 2.01 of IntelliScreen just makes a few changes to the application. The two visual changes include the ability to choose alert sounds (see screenshots below) and an IntelliDial screen even if you do not have any Favorites selected. Now, if you press the Home button to go to IntelliDial and you do not have any Favorites selected you will get a screen that says, “IntelliDial uses your contact favorites. You have no favorite contacts.” There was also one bug fix that had to do with the app not starting. Other than that, no major changes. Though, I sure am glad to have IntelliScreen back! I really missed this app!! You can get IntelliScreen 2.01 in Cydia via the Intelliborn source.

biteSMS now available for firmware 2.0

It seems that biteSMS has been ported to firmware 2.0. The app has most of the features that the previous version had. However, below is a list of a few features that are still being worked on.

– The “Default App” functionality is not yet implemented (it’s being coded as we speak)
– Adding a contact from the address book does not slide away the keyboard (it should, it’s a bug and is being fixed)

WinterBoard 0.9.2501-3

I was excited to see an update for WinterBoard in Cydia today! And, the update turned out to be exactly what I was hoping it would be! WinterBoard now supports changing the StatusBar and fixes the bug where the wallpaper was being cut off just above the dock and just below the StatusBar. A very cool update! Oh, they also changed the icon…which I like. Other than that, there were no change to the user interface, still just lists file names. However, it is nice to have my custom themes looking correctly (<--- pretty sure that is not proper grammar, I apologize to all English teachers)! Check out the screenshots below. Note: I would like to say thanks to the Developer for adding the icon.png file to the WinterBoard.app folder. It makes my job A LOT easier!

Neverball 1.4.1

The update to version 1.4.1 of Neverball change the name of the application to NeverballME. BigBoss also mentioned that, “The main changes here are to update the data files used to allow for NeverPutt.” It does feel like the app plays a little smoother as well. Cydia Update

It seems Cydia has had quite the update. I honestly hadn’t noticed that it had updated, it didn’t give me a pop-up saying that it had an update and it didn’t show up on the list of changes so I’m assume it just did it automatically. To see the full affects of the update, you will need to close Cydia and reopen it. Upon reopening it, you will get pop-up asking if you are a User, Hacker or Developer. This will determine which apps you will see in Cydia. If you are a user Cydia will only display Graphical apps, if you are a Hacker it will display Command Line apps and if you select Developer you will see all apps. Once you have chosen your settings, it will bring you into Cydia. Now, you will see the next change in the Sections option. If you select Sections you will notice a new Edit button. AppFlow 2.0

The update to version 2.0 of AppFlow does exactly what I was hoping it would do! You are now able to set applications as your Home Button double tap! Very cool! The update pretty much takes the features from xLaunch and adds them into AppFlow. When you tap on an application, you will get a menu with the options; Launch application, Assign to DoubleTap, Badge It and Cancel. You are able to assign any application to the double tap including App Store apps. However, you can only assign badges to Cydia/Installer apps and not App Store applications. Also, you can only assign the double tap and badge from the list mode. If you tilt your iPhone and go into the Cover Flow mode, when you double tap an icon it will just launch that app and does not give you the menu. Sketches 0.7b7

The update to Sketches 0.7b7 only has one change that I have noticed. You are now able to shake to erase your drawings. A few updates ago, that feature was removed, but it looks like they have added it back in! Other than that, I do not notice any visual changes to the application.
