Sublime Lock HD – Clean, Easily Customizable Lock Screen

Sublime Lock HD is a nicely designed lock screen mod. The mod displays the current time, date, temperature, weather conditions, twitter feed and has a decent amount of themes to choose from. What I love about this lock screen is that it is SUPER easy to customize… like seriously anyone can do it… there is no coding involved. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to install, activate and customize this lock screen.

Side Note: The instructions might look long but that is only because I explain every little step.

Ragdoll Blaster 2 – Free For Limited Time

For a limited time, Ragdoll Blaster 2 is free for the iPhone and iPod touch. The developers are trying to promote the new version of the app for the iPad ($4.99). This game is really addicting and has 4 1/2 stars in the App Store. It comes with over 150 levels and there is some great creativity in the designing of some of these levels. I definitely recommend downloading this game. [Read more…]

Facebook iPhone App Updated – Groups, Deals, Places Improvements

Today, the Facebook iPhone application received an update. The update includes the addition of Groups and Deals as well as improvements to the Places feature (see full change log below). The new Groups feature has replaced the Requests option on the main page. I also noticed that the News Feed now displays three options at the top of the page; Photo, Status and Check In… allowing you to quickly do one of those three things without having to leave your News Feed.

Apple Releases App Store Guidelines

Apple I’m sure most of you have already heard about the fact that Apple has released their App Store Guidelines (especially since I know you all watched episode 19 of i101!) but, just in case you haven’t I thought I would mention on AiS too. Yesterday, Apple released their App Store Guidlines allowing developers to have a better understanding of how apps are accepted and rejected from the App Store. Below is a list of some of the main guidelines. The entire document contains 113 guidelines each of which are broken down and specifically explained. [Read more…]

Facebook for iPhone Update 3.1.3

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

FacebookFacebook has put out another update with some fixes to a couple things that have really been annoying me. One is video playback! You can now watch videos posted on Facebook. Another is links to photo albums now work. Before it would just give an error. Also, you can upload .png files. This helps us upload screenshots from our iPhones. Before you would just get a black screen instead of the picture. Here’s the full list of updates: [Read more…]

Today ToDo Pro – Unique ToDo Application

Available In: App Store       Price: $3.99

Today ToDo Pro Doug recorded this review a couple days ago (I’m sure why he didn’t post it… probably because of the light in the background that I forgot to turn off!). Either way, I really like Today ToDo Pro so I thought I would pass it along. I am constantly on the quest for the perfect todo app and this one really sticks out among the rest. The interface is simple and very unique, it has the features I’m looking for in a todo app and it is well designed. Check out Doug’s video review below.

Preview of Square, A Credit Card Reader

At first, this little device might be confusing since it plugs into the iPhone’s headphone/microphone jack and it’s not a speaker or microphone; it’s a credit card reader. I’m assuming that it reads the magnetic strip on the card by creating tones/different frequencies and feeds them through the mic port and into the app that’s running. It doesn’t use a battery as far as I can tell either so it must draw power off the headphone jack. This is a bit different than most other readers we’ve seen. Others use the dock connection to connect the card reader. [Read more…]

Apple Tablet Live Blog

Apple iPhone SchoolToday I will be live blogging during the Apple event. I’m going to do it a little different from the past. I’m not going to attempt to write every little thing that happens on this one post. I will be taking notes from the event and then, later, writing full articles about each point. What we’ll be doing during the events is tweeting and live streaming both major iPhone and Tablet announcements and sharing our comments. There will be a live video feed from me and an area where you can either live chat (type), comment in the post, or reply via twitter.

We will also be tweeting as much info as possible from our @iphoneschool twitter account for those of you on mobile devices.

Mophie Marketplace Case for iPhone 3G & 3GS

##ICON_NAME## Mophie has announced yet another iPhone case that is more than just a case. This case has a credit card magnetic strip reader at the bottom. It works with their app in the app store to read credit cards. The case is made of a nice grippy rubber and can be charged and synced through the micro USB port. Again, this case has no release date and no price listed on their website. This app would be great for vendors at flee markets, farmers markets and events. Unlike their FLO TV case and other battery cases, this case does not have an extra battery.

Facebook iPhone App Experiencing Connection Issues (It’s Not Just You)

FacebookMy grandma has been texting me for the past couple days asking me to help her fix her Facebook iPhone App. She said it’s not refreshing her news feed and can’t see people’s walls. I told her to shake it :) (that forces the app to refresh.) It didn’t work. Then I noticed I am having the same issues. Have you been experiencing problems? Let us know in the comments. I checked out Twitter and it looks like we’re not the only ones:
