Safety Not Guaranteed – WinterBoard Theme

6 iPhone 3.0 Icons – WinterBoard Theme

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

6 iPhone 3.0 Icons 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons is a theme that includes the Stocks, iPod, Phone, Voice Memos, SMS and MMS icons from the 3.0 firmware. When you install 6 iPhone 3.0 Icons (via the iSpazio source), it will add the theme into WinterBoard where it can then be activated/deactivated. When activated, the Phone, Stocks, iPod and SMS icons will change to the 3.0 icons however, you will not see the Voice Memos or MMS icons due to the fact that there are no apps with these titles on your SpringBoard (or at least not on my SpringBoard). But, the icons are in the theme’s folder so if you want them you can go to Library/Themes/iPhone 3.0 Icons/Icons folder on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I also added them to this post (see screenshots below) The theme only contains these six icons. I will say that I’m a little confused by the MMS icon…I’m not sure if it is based on the country you are in or what but, Doug does not have that icon on his 3.0 upgrade.

3.0 Beta Icons – Look like you have 3.0 Firmware!

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

3.0 Beta Icons30betaiconstheme2 3.0 Beta Icons is a mod that will change your SMS, Phone and iPod icons to look like the icons that come with the 3.0 firmware. When I installed this app, it did not show up in WinterBoard and my icons did not change to the 3.0 icons so, I did what I always do…restarted my iPhone. However, that didn’t work so I uninstalled and reinstalled that app…that still didn’t work so I did some digging. When I SSH’d into my iPhone I found that the files had been added into the main root directory in a folder titled 3.0. So, I just copies the three icon files and added them into WinterBoard as a theme (instructions below) and then activated the theme in WinterBoard…it worked. Hopefully we see an update to the app that puts the folder in the correct place…which I’m assuming would be WinterBoard. This mod is available via the PwnCenter source.

Note: The Stocks icon is also different in the 3.0 Firmware but, that icon is not included in this theme.

Well, it seem the developer has made things a little easier by releasing the app via Cydia. The process is simple and easy, just install the application and no more wiggling icons! This means that when you tap and hold an icon so that they can be moved around your SpringBoard, they will no longer wiggle.

This application is not activated via WinterBoard, it just automatically installs and activates. If you would like your wiggling back, just uninstall the app via Cydia. [Read more…]

Cydia Gets Fancy – New (Animated) Graphics

Cydia Well, it seems that I have missed a very cool new feature in Cydia. When you are on the Home option (on the lower menu bar) in Cydia, you get a menu with options such as Featured Packages, More Packages Source, F.A.Q…etc. If you select the Featured Packages option, you get a nice list of the featured applications (sponsored, free, commercial…etc). Everything seems normal but, wait until you select one of the apps…things get all crazy! :)

When you select one of the featured apps, keep your eye on the icon in the upper right corner. Yes, it was totally animated…switching from the icon that represents what category the app is in to the application’s actual icon. Not only is it cool that it is animated but, I love that you now get to see the app’s actual icon instead of the generic icon that represents what category the app is in! This is currently implemented in all the apps in the Featured Packages section as well as the sources in the More Package Sources section. Though, I heard through the grape vine that this is going to work it’s way into more areas of Cydia! Very cool! Cydia is like all fancy now! :) [Read more…]

Removing Uncategorized Icons from SpringBoard

AiS If you installed a theme called, iGreenic, then you probably have 12 Uncategorized icons on your SpringBoard. The only issue I have found with this is that it is basically impossible to remove these 12 uncategorized icons!!

They even returned after I restored my iPhone! So, I did some research and found out what the deal was. I thought I would pass it along in case anyone else is having the same problem.

The icons are actually webclips and in order to remove them, you will need to ssh into your iPhone or iPod Touch. You will then want go into the var/mobile/Library/WebClips folder. In there you will see files with very long titles made up of letters and numbers. You will notice that 12 of them have basically the same file name except for the last number. Ex) E0E1221545BF41C7899B499EFFB09E91.webclip, E0E1221545BF41C7899B499EFFB09E92.webclip… If you open these files they will contain only an icon, which when previewed is blank. My files went from E0E1221545BF41C7899B499EFFB09E91.webclip to E0E1221545BF41C7899B499EFFB09E997.webclip. So, just delete those 12 files off your iPhone and then respring your SpringBoard…voilà they will be gone!

SBSettings 0.91b

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SBSettings I did a post with a preview of SBSettings a about a week ago and it seems that it is now available via Cydia. SBSettings is said to be a full replacement to BossPrefs (which we all love so much)! When you install SBSettings, you will not see an icon on your SpringBoard. You activate the application by swiping on your Status Bar (that is the bar at the top of your iPhone or iPod Touch that have the time, carrier logo, battery…). This will bring up SBSettings. The upper part of the menu are features of SBSetting the lower part of the menu gives you information about your iPhone or iPod Touch. Such as the name of your iPhone, your WiFi IP address, your Data IP address and the amount of space available on your iPhone.

WinterBoard Mods

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard There are quite a few mods in WinterBoard today and I want to mention a few…one of which I am excited to tell the ladies about!! I always try to post about any mods that are aimed toward us females, only because there are not a ton of them and so it is nice to know about the few there are. Well, I honestly have not found that I am overly impressed with but, I really like a new theme called KillSignCarbonPink the other mods are titled; Sun and Moon SMS, Icon Shadow and Icon Glow.

KillSignCarbonPink is a very complete theme. It contains icon, slider bar, keyboard, dialer, wallpaper, system, badges, SMS Bubbles, loading screens, battery and many more mods. It is pretty clean and nicely put together. There are a few things I’m not huge on but overall, a decent theme you will want to check out. The next mod is an SMS mod. It changes your SMS Bubble to an yellow and a pearl color. The yellow sms bubbles have have a star and the pearl have a moon. It also has a star wallpaper. It sounds like it could be cheesy but, it is actually a decent design. [Read more…]
