Yesterday, there an update was release for the WeatherIcon mod. The update is through the modmyi source. It doesn’t make any changes to the mod however, it does replace the mod via the david.ashman.com source. I’m not sure if David has moved his mod to the modmyi source or if the update to the app mistakenly overwrites the david.ashman.com mod. Doug said he had a little bit of trouble with the update on his iPhone 3GS, he had to unisntall and reinstall it…then it worked. I didn’t have any issues with the update on an iPhone 3G running 3.0. Advanced Lock is a lock screen mod. It looks like a log in screen in which you have to “scan” your finger to enter. You actually have to swipe your finger for it to work…you cannot just hold your finger on the spot. When you swipe your finger, a blue finger print will show up. This mod can be activated/deactivate via WinterBoard and is available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. You can get Advanced Lock through the iSpazio source. [Read more…]

There have been a few updates to the WeatherIcon mod since the last time I wrote about it. The updates were mostly bug fixes but, the update to 2.1.14 caught my eye. The update says, “This release “should” fix issues that people were seeing with phones running on EDGE that had incoming call issues. I got reports of problems with calls being dropped, no audio, and other oddities. This release should handle that more gracefully.” [Read more…]

LiveClock has been updated to version 0.4. Before the update, the LiveClock mod worked but, it was a little weird…when you first installed it, it would display six hands instead of three and you would have to tap at the very bottom of the Clock icon to open the stock Clock application. Well, the update fixes these problems. I no longer had a problem with the mod displaying six hands and the Clock application opens normally. [Read more…]

There is an update to SpringBoard Clock, a mod that adds the current time and date to your SpringBoard, to version 1.1. The update is said to change the app so that the user can use their own wallpaper and includes some bug fixes. I gave the update a shot and I’m still not having much luck. The wallpaper of the mod has been changed to a blank wallpaper but, I still cannot use it with another theme’s wallpaper (by moving the theme above the SpringBoard Clock mod in WinterBoard) or use my own wallpaper with the mod (by moving User Wallpaper above the SpringBaord Clock mod in WinterBoard). Doug and I have a friend who recently purchased an iPod Touch. After doing so, one of the first things he asked us is if there was a way to have the “Slide to Unlock” go the opposite direction. I was like, why in the world would you want that? Apparently it is more natural to slide from right to left for a left-handed person. Well, it turns out that there is indeed a hack that changes the slide to unlock direction…who knew! (Probably all the left-handed people!)

The WeatherIcon mod has had quite a few updates going from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.9 (below are all the change logs). I found that the updates have the mod working very nicely….even in conjunction with the Status Bar date mod via SBSettings. Let us know in the comments if you are still having issues with this mod. It seems we have another update to the WeatherIcon mod. Once again, I had no problem with the update on an iPhone running 2.2. The mod also seems to be working a little better with the 3.0 firmware. The Status Bar part of the mod is looking much better and it now visible instead of being too high and getting cut off. I did notice that the Status Bar mod does not work correctly if you are adding the date to your Status Bar using SBettings. It did take a few resprings and disabling/enabling to get it to work correctly (Status Bar) but, that could have to do some of my mods and not the actual WeatherIcon app. [Read more…]

I have had quite a few people asking me about the LiveClock mod (a mod that displays the current time on your Clock icon) and whether or not it works on the 3.0 firmware….the answer is, yes!
The first time you install the mod, it will be over the top of your Stock icon which makes it look weird because it will have two hour, minute and second hands. All you need to do is go into WinterBoard and disable LiveClock. Your iPhone and/or iPod Touch will respring. Now, go back into WinterBoard and uncheck the LiveClock Disabled option…your device will respring again and voilà you will have the LiveClock mod (working correctly). You can get this mod via the iSpazio source.

There was another update to the WeatherIcon mod. The updated says that it adds “more 3.0 compatibility.” When I tested it, I was able to enable the Status Bar Image and Temp but, they are not aligned correctly. They are too high on the Status Bar and are only partially visible.
The update does make the app compatible with the 2.2 firmware again. When I installed the update on an iPhone running 2.2, it did not go into Safe Mode and both the Icon and Status Bar worked correctly. So, you should be safe to install it now. [Read more…]

Old Dock Theme is a WinterBoard enabled theme that changes your dock to look like the dock from back in the 1.1.1 days…yeah, I know, old school! :) Make sure you move it above your theme in WinterBoard if you would like to use it in conjunction with a theme. The developer also suggests installing the ReflectiveDock mod to make the Old Dock Theme look the best. You can get Old Dock Theme via the BigBoss source.

The WeatherIcon mod (a mod that allows the current temperature and weather conditions to be displayed on your weather icon) has been updated to version 2.1.2 which allows it to work on the 3.0 firmware. The status bar part of the mod still is not working on 3.0 but, at least the icon part of the mod is!
When I first installed WeatherIcon, on my iPhone running 3.0, it went into safe mode. I restarted the SpringBoard again, as prompted by the safe mode pop-up, and it worked fine. The same thing happened when I updated the mod on an iPhone running 2.2 firmware as well (safe mode, restarted, worked fine).

The Metal Thing is a pretty cool theme that contains 30 icons, moving wallpaper, dock, status bar, lock background, SMS background, sliders, badges, dialer, calculator…etc. This theme is unique in the fact that it has an “animated” wallpaper. In the center of the wallpaper is a blue sphere…inside the sphere you will get a nice lighting affect every once and a while. The icons also need to be in a specific order around the sphere. The rest of your icons can be placed wherever you would like them. (See screenshots below) I did notice that the animated wallpaper does making the icons a little laggy when in “move” mode however, it doesn’t seem to affect scrolling of SpringBoard pages.
