Yesterday, there was an update to the WeatherIcon mod… a mod that displays the current temperature and weather conditions on your Weather icon or Statusbar. The update, “Fixed incompatibility with Battery Control when both the battery and percentage are hidden.”
Battery Control is an application that provides additional Statusbar battery options. I personally don’t think I experienced this bug but, if you did, now there is a fix for it! [Read more…]
About a week ago, TomTom’s App Store application was approved and became available in the App Store. In the review, I also mentioned that TomTom would be releasing a Car Kit for the iPhone. The car kit is still not available on the website but, they did release a demo video for the kit. Check it out below.

Saurik recently released an application in Cydia called PrivaCy. PrivaCy is an application that allows you to “selectively opt-out of sending anonymous usage statistics” to certain providers such as; Flurry, Medialets, Mobclix and Pinch Media. According to a recent post by the Dev-Team, there is some concern over App Store applications that track the user’s information including; usage and geo location. Ok, I saw this theme/mod a while back on deviantart.com and wanted to write an article about it but at the time it was a pretty drawn out process (and still is). Well, here’s a video to see what it looks like. The guy kinda explains it like the software is actually running on the iPhone, but it’s not. It’s just a theme made to look like the HTC. Photogene is a very sweet photo editing application. I have actually been using BarginBin to keep an eye out for when this app would go on sale and today it did… I was totally pumped! Photogene, normally $2.99, is on sale for the week-end only for $0.99. Honestly, the app is worth the $2.99 price tag but how much cooler is it to get it for $0.99! Photogene has basically every editing tool you could ask for all within an amazing user interface. Seriously a must-have! Check out the full list of features below and some screenshots.

Version 1.1 of SlingPlayer Mobile was just approved by Apple and is now available in the App Store. the update does contain some new features (see list below) but still does not allow the app to work on 3G. The developers have submitted a version of the app that does allow it to work on 3G however, they have not heard back from Apple on that version of the app yet. Akanaz GlassOrb is a WinterBoard theme that contains 84 icons, a dock, wallpaper, statusbar, lock wallpaper, sliders, lock screen battery and other UI mods. The theme is not packaged for the 3.x firmware so in order for it to display correctly you will need to ssh into the Library/Themes/Akanaz GlassOrb/Icons folder and change the Text.png to Messages.png. You will also need to change the Ipod.png to iPod.png. After that, it should display correctly. You can get Akanaz GlassOrb via the modmyi source.
1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the modmyi source installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Akanaz GlassOrb in Cydia, run the install.

BillMinder a, feature-packed, personal bill assistant, is being updated to version 2.0. The update includes a nice user interface update as well as some cool new features that are yet to be disclosed. I had a chance to check out version 2.0 of the app and was impressed with the functionality of the app… I think I have finally found the bill organizing app I have been looking for! The app is currently $0.99 and the upgrade to version 2.0 will be free for those who have already purchased the application. Armoured Shift is a “shoot’em’up” game for the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is said to have a 60 frames per second gameplay, in-game achievements and a 10,000 player on-line leaderboard. It looks well designed and seems to have decent controls. The app is scheduled to be released sometime in September and it will be in the $0.99 – $1.99 price range. Dabedoo is a winterboard theme that contains 42 icons, a wallpaper, dock, statusbar, lock screen background and lock screen battery. The theme works well in conjunction with the WeatherIcon mod (as long as you use the transparent weathericon background). You can get Dabedoo via the MacCiti source.

Electronic Arts, the developers of some of the post popular iPhone and iPod Touch applications, has just reduced the price of three of their top games; The Sims 3, Need for Speed Undercover and Wolfenstein RPG. It is not unusual for EA to reduce the price of an app. It seems that after an app has been released for a while, they are nice enough to drop the price. Good for those of you who are patient!
