BoomBeat is a beat box on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I didn’t write about this application when it was initially released because frankly…it was weird. Every time you tapped on one of the eight sounds affects the box got darker…I don’t know why, it just did. Anyway, there was an update to the application and I find it much more appealing now.
Once installed, you get the option of eight different beatbox sounds. Just tap on one of the eight billet boxes to hear the sound. You can play up to two sounds at once. I did find that if you play more than one at a time, one of the boxes gets darker. Once again, I’m not really sure what the purpose is of that. Maybe is some crazy beatboxing thing that I don’t know about! :) You can control the apps volume using your iPhone or iPod Touch’s main volume control. [Read more…]

To keep up-to-date on the SBSettings, there have been two more updates recently. The updates 2.99-3 & 2.99-4 had one bug fix and added one new option:
• A bug fix so that you cannot type in the mobile substrate text box
and
• The ability to hide the hold indicator, that is the little hand image on the icons that support the hold feature (which is currently only available on the 3.x firmware). [Read more…]

Black Wood is a nicely designed mostly black theme with some white and yellow accents. This is a “normal” theme (meaning not an iNav theme) so, there is no additional set-up. The theme comes with a wallpaper, dock, 269 icons, badge, slider…etc. The theme package also include a template for the icons (.psd file) which is always nice. The .psd file is located in the Library/Theme/Black Wood/Extra. I think these icons might also be small enough to be used with the FCSB mod. You can get Black Wood via the BigBoss source. SBSettings recently had an update to version 2.99. The update bring some significant changes to the application.
Some of the changes that I really like are:
• The ability to move the toggle order. This allows you to move the toggles you use most often to the top of SBSettings.
• The ability to enable/disable mobile substrate applications (those are apps that run in the background and do not have icons). That way you can turn them off without uninstalling them.
• The addition to the Extras and Options.
In the Extras and Options, I really like the ability to turn off/on the numeric wifi, numeric GSM (ph one strength) and numeric battery. I also like the ability to add the date to the status bar and they ability to enable/disable SBSettings on the lock screen and during a call. I am constantly trying to launch SBSettings from my lock screen only to remember that I cant! Now I can! YAY! [Read more…]

Birthday Cal Push is an application that will put your Contacts’ birthday’s into your stock Calendar application. I was actually totally stoked to see this application. As far as I know, this is the first app of this type.
Once installed, all you have to do is tap on the Birthday Cal Push icon and the application will open and close. In theory, all your contacts’ birthday’s will then be in your Calendar. However, this application did not work for me. I tapped on the icon, it opened and closed, I went to my Calendar and I got nothing. So, I gave it another shot…still nothing. I even tried entering a new birthday for one of my contacts and then running the Birthday Cal Push app. [Read more…]
iBirthdays – Keep Track of Your Contacts’ Birthdays

iBirthdays is an application that allows you to nicely keep track of upcoming Birthdays. I have reviewed a few Birthday applications available since the 2.x firmware (QuickBirthday and Birthday Reminder). Like most Birthday applications, the Birthdays are pulled from your Contact List. So, in order for this app to work, you have to have Birthdays assigned to your Contacts (see info below on how to do so).
When you open iBirthdays (which should not be confused for iBirthday), you get a list of your upcoming Birthdays. The list displays the contact’s Photo, Name, Birthday Date, how old they are going to be and how many months/days until their Birthday. There is also a lower menu bar in which you can view the list by All by Date (this displays the Birthdays for all your contacts starting in January and going to December), All by Name (this displays the Birthdays for all your contacts in alphabetical order by the contact’s name) and Setting. Ok, I have to admit that I have been procrastinating the review of this application (only because usually these apps aren’t very good) however, about ten seconds into reviewing iSmartDialer I realized I was going to be wrong with this one!
iSmartDialer is an application that allows you to easily search your contacts, send a text and send an email all from your stock dialer. Once you install the app, you will need to activate it. In order to activate it, you have to purchase it which costs $7.99(USD). So, continue reading and you can decide if this is an application you are interested in purchasing. [Read more…]

It looks like Lock Calendarversion 1.0 has been released. I’m not sure if it has been a while since I have done a review of Lock Calendar or just a while since they have updated it! Either way…there are some new features in the app. In the settings for Lock Calendar (which is location in your stock Settings applicaiton) you now have the ability to choose a specific calendar to display on your lock screen (which is a great faeture) and the ability to do a lot more customizing of the app. You are able to select the seperator color, the background color and transpaency and the text color, current color, font type and font size for the Date Bar, Title, Location and Time. You can pretty much customize the app to look however you want now! I will say that it is not the most user friendly interface but, after a little time…you will get the hang of it. [Read more…]
Vibrate Toggle SBSettings Update – Easily Turn on/off Vibrate Feature

The update to version 1.0-1 of Vibrate Toggle SBSettings adds a little more functionality to the app. After writing my last post about the toggle, many of you pointed out that there were still times when your iPhone or iPod Touch vibrated even after using this app to toggle the vibrate feature off. The update fixes a few of these issue. Your iPhone/iPod Touch will no longer vibrate when receiving a text message, a phone call or when switching it to silent mode. However, it still does vibrate when switching back on from silent mode and when you plug your device in. So, we are getting closer…not quite there yet but, with another update or two I think we might get it! I personally still use this toggle because it does the majority of what I want it to.

We have not seen a ton of games released on the jailbreak scene since firmware 2.x (not like we had with 1.1.4 and below) however, Battle Dot showed up today in Cydia. It is an accelerometer based game in which you move your player (the dot) by tilting your iPhone. The game is well designed and fun to play. So, lets take a look at it!
When you open Battle Dot, you get a nice instruction page. Once you have read the instructions, just tap the screen. You can then tilt your iPhone to move the dot into the 1 player or 2 player door (that is the open space at the top of the screen). You will then get a screen in which you can choose to play one of four different arenas. Each arena has a unique element to make the game a little trickier. The first arena (from left to right) has a tornado that you want to aviod, the second arena is broke into four separate squares that you have to try to maneuver through, the third arena has a bar that moves back and forth across the play screen and the forth arena has a constantly rotating open circle in the middle of the play screen. To select an arena, just move your dot through it’s “door way.”
