StatusNotifier 0.1

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

StatusNotifier Now, this is an application that many of you have probably been waiting for!! I personally use IntelliScreen for my status bar notifications but, if you do not use IntelliScreen…this is perfect for you! StatusNotifier adds an icon to your status bar (the bar at the top of your iPhone with the carrier logo on it) if you have a missed email, text, call or voicemail. This is very similar to the Taskbar Notifier application for firmware 1.1.4 and below.

StatusNotifier is a code application so, when you install it there will not be an icon to your SpringBoard and it will automatically start adding the notification icons to your status bar. [Read more…]

SwirlyMMS 1.2

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free Demo; $8.00 USD

##ICON_NAME## Hello iPhone People…that is supposed to be read like they say, “Hello Miami” like at concerts and what not. Ok, maybe that only happens in the movies anyway, moving on! It seems that SwirlyMMS, an app that allows multimedia text messaging, has finally made it’s way to the 2.0+ firmware…YAY!. This is very exciting for those of you who can use it! I’m still trying to find a way to get it to work with AT&T but, it does have a new icon!

When you open SwirlyMMS, it will default to the Inbox screen but will then take you to the info screen. On the info screen you will see the options Get Demo and and Arrow. In order to use the application, [Read more…]

        – If ON, the badge that denotes how many SMS’s are unread will be shown against the biteSMS icon instead of the Apple SMS icon.

SMSNotify 2.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

#SMSNotify SMSNotify is an application that will allow your iPhone to vibrate when you have a missed text message or a new voicemail. This is actually not a new application, it is also available via Installer for firmware 1.1.4 and below. However, the app has changed slightly. In SMSNotify 2.0, if you have a missed text, your iPhone will vibrate three times and if you have a new voicemail, your iPhone will vibrate two times. However, this only works if your iPhone is in sleep mode (or lock mode). If your iPhone is plugged in or not in sleep mode, the app will not make your iPhone vibrate. ‘

As cool as this application is… [Read more…]

biteSMS now available for firmware 2.0

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

biteSMS It seems that biteSMS has been ported to firmware 2.0. The app has most of the features that the previous version had. However, below is a list of a few features that are still being worked on.

– The “Default App” functionality is not yet implemented (it’s being coded as we speak)
– Adding a contact from the address book does not slide away the keyboard (it should, it’s a bug and is being fixed)

Other than that, the app looks and functions the same as normal. Also, if you upgraded iPhones and you still have credits from your previous iPhone, [Read more…]

Picture Messaging (MMS) Workaround

TextAs most everyone knows, one of the biggest downfalls of the iPhone is the missing picture messaging. I was reading through our forum and zachdrago had written how to send MMS or picture messages to AT&T users. I have done this before with Verizon but I thought it would be kewl to list all the services that allow for this feature. Basically the way it works is you put the person’s phone number before whatever domain name that company uses for picture or text messaging.

zachdrago’s instructions:

1) choose the picture you want to send, and hit “email photo.” 2) in the “to:” field type the person’s cell phone number followed by @mms.att.net. now send, it’s that simple. EX: 5552345678@mms.att.net

I’ll get a list started and as you let me know in the comments, I’ll add it to the list. Thanks zachdrago! Here’s the ones I know: [Read more…]

biteSMS 1.19

Available In: Installer       Price: Free

biteSMS The update to version 1.19 of bitSMS makes a few updates to the application. It adds Danish and Spanish to the list of compatible languages. It is also said to improve the performance when rendering screens and scrolling. You are also able to switch between biteSMS and the stock SMS application. However, I could not get this feature to work! Let me know in the comments if it worked for you. You can get biteSMS through the Ste Packaging source.

SwirlyMMS 1.1

SwirlyMMS Version 1.1 of SwirlyMMS, a multimedia text message application, fixes quite a few bugs and adds just a few new features. Below is the change log via the developer. I am still unable to get this to work with AT&T. Let me know in the comments if you were able to get it to work with AT&T and how you did it. You can get SwirlyMMS via the Swirlyspace source.

Note: Since the last time I did a review of this application, it has really improved! There are now Inbox, Outbox, Sent and Trash options which make make navigating your text messages much easier. They have also made adding media to a text message quick and simple through little buttons. I think it is a great improvement…it looks very clean and user friendly (see screenshots below). Also, it is now only a 14 day trial after that the app costs $8.00 USD. [Read more…]

biteSMS 1.18

biteSMS The update to version 1.18 of biteSMS, a SMS replacement application, adds some cool new features. When you open the application and swipe on a text message, you now get a pop-up with the option to forward that message or delete it. In the previous version you were only able to forward a message. Another new features is multiple SIM support because the credits are linked to a SIM. The feature that I am most excited about is the ability to restore your credits right from the application!! I always feel bad when I email them to send me my credits AGAIN…due to the fact that I restore my iPhone so often. If you go into the Setting menu, you will see an option called Lost Your Credits. When selected, [Read more…]

biteSMS 1.17

biteSMS The update to version 1.17 of biteSMS does not make any visual changes to the application. It does add language support for Chinese and fix a few bugs. The bug fixes include, “Fixed Send via Carrier character encoding; Better error handling during the Sending process.” biteSMS is available through the Ste Packaging source.

LadyBug SMS Mod

This is a unique SMS mod. When installed, it will add ladybugs, leaves and cherries to you SMS bubbles. Your SMS messages will have a ladybug and cherries…the reply SMS messages will have a ladybug and a leaf. I know, it is girly but…girls do own iPhones!! :) Also, I had no issue installing or uninstalling this application. When I install it, the mod showed-up…when I uninstalled it, it went back to stock. Simple and easy. The LadyBug SMS mod is avilable through the Planet-iPhones source.

Note: when you install this mod, it will remove you custom chat bubbles…at least it did for me, mine where added via Customize.

MCleaner 1.4.1.6

MCleaner MCleaner is an application that allows you to filter your Calls and Text Messages (similar to Pysl and iBlacklist). I am using MCleaner via the iSpazio source. Like all call/text filtering applications, be sure to turn your iPhone all the way off and then back on after you install it.

The first time you open MCleaner, you will get a pop-up with the options; Register, Activate and Cancel. To use the application for the 15 day trial, select the Cancel option. It costs $19.00 USD to purchase the full version of the application. Once you have made your selection, it will bring you to the main screen. Here you will see a few options. First, we are going to look at the options down the middle of the screen which include; Whitelist, Blacklist, My Logs, Profiles, Scheduler and Settings. The Whitelist contains the numbers that you would like to allow through and the Blacklist contains the numbers that you would like to block. So, lets walk through how to use this application.

biteSMS 1.16

biteSMS The update to biteSMS adds two languages; Italian and Dutch. It also changes the SMS counter, at the bottom of the screen, so that it displays the total credits it will use to send the text message. This has been changed to account for the ability to forward text messages to multiple contacts. Which does make more sense. I must say, I am still a big fan of this application. It is simple, easy-to-use and well developed. biteSMS is available through the BigBoss source.

iBlackList 1.9.1 – Filter Incoming Calls and Texts

iBlackList I have tested this application many times on many different version and have never done a reivew of it due to the fact that I did not think that it functioned well enough. Well, I am actually quite satisfied with version 1.9.1 of iBlackList. Below is a full review of the application. However, I am going to give a brief warning first. I have never used a call/sms filtering application that works completely perfectly and iBlackList is no exception. Please read this review and install at your own discretion.

iBlackList is an application that allows you to filter your incoming calls and text messages. After installing the application you will want to restart your iPhone. Do not skip this step… [Read more…]

asVibra2 0.1

asVibra2 is similar to asVibra, it changes your stock SMS/Message vibrate alert. asVibra2 changes the alert vibrate to three short vibrations instead of one vibration. It pretty much adds two more vibrations to the end of the stock one. They are the same length as the stock vibration…there are just three of them. It seemed like three was a little too much for me. I think I would have been ok with two but three got a little long. this application does not add an icon to your SpringBoard, it just automatically changes your alert vibrate. To go back to the stock alert, just uninstall asVibra2. asVibra2 is available through the sendowski.de source.
