Minhimalist WinterBoard Theme

Minhimalist is a very simple WinterBoard theme. It is a black and white theme that sports little icons (might be good for all the new five icon mods!). You can also make requests for more icons for the theme at kevindosi.com/iphone.

How to Install

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the ModMyi sourceinstalled in Cydia.
3. Search for Minhimalist in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the Minhimalist theme.

Hotmail Now Available on the iPhone in the US

A few days ago (yes, I’m behind on email!) we got a nice tip from Joe that Hotmail on the iPhone was now available in the US. Well, I did a little testing today and he is right!! About three weeks ago, I wrote about the ability to get Hotmail on your iPhone in select countries. In that article I mentioned that they were going to make POP3 technology available for other countries as the year progresses…well, it seems they have done just that!

FiveIrows – Five Rows of Icons on your SpringBoard (six counting the dock icons)

I know many of you are patiently waiting the release of the FCSB (which has technically been released in Cydia just not by the actual developer). Well, while you wait, you could try out the FiveIrows mod. This mod allows for five rows of icons (technically six if you count the icons in the dock).

When installed, it will automatically adjusts your icons so that you are able to fit five rows on your SpringBoard. It also adds a theme to WinterBoard called FiveIRows Page Dots which will also adjust your page dots to fit better with the five rows of icons. I also noticed that when installed, it stops your icons from wiggling when in “move” mod. Not a huge issue but, reminds me of a lot of other mods of this type…they all seem to stop the wiggling. Lock Calendar Update – Display Calendar Events on Lock Screen

Lock Calendar has been updated to version 0.3. This version fixes a few bugs (see screenshots below) but, also adds some cool new features. You now have the ability to add Date Separators, Header Transparencies and Entry Transparencies. If you go into the app settings (which is accessible through the stock Settings app) you are able to turn on/off the Date Separators (which puts a line between the dates) and adjust both the Header and Entry Transparencies to your choosing. Hi-Tech is a theme that has a lot of mods built in. Not only does it change your wallpaper and icons, it also changes your loading screen, keypad, lock screen and lock screen keyboard, regular keyboard, some UI mods, the spinny wheel on your status bar…etc. So, if you like complete themes…you might want to check this one out. Progress Bar Mods – Change Color of Download Progress Fill

Below are a few mods that change the color of your download progress fill bar when you are installing an application from the App Store. Not to be confused with the Safari Progress Bar mod. There are a few colors available for this mod. One packages titled Progress Colors allow you the ability to to change your progress bar yellow, red, purple, orange, green, black or cool gray. LiveClock Invisible Icon

I know many of you use the LiveClock mod. However, one disadvantage of the LiveClock mod is that it does not always match your current theme. With the WeatherIcon mod, at least you have the option for a transparent background (which I almost always use) allowing the mod to work with almost any theme. No Clock – Remove Status Bar Time

No Clock is a mod that removes the time from your status bar. This is nice for the themes that display the time and date on the SpringBoard (which there are quite a few of!). This mod is available through the ModMyi source and is activate/deactivated in WinterBoard. I did not have any issues when activating or deactivating this app.

Take a Note – Versatile Note Taking Application

My wife and I like to play a game called “I liked it better when…” Whenever we see a movie, commercial, or something that seems to be duplicating a prior idea, we’ll say “I liked it better when…” and insert the name of the idea that’s being copied. In the case of Readdle’s Take a Note, I liked it better when it was called Evernote.

Overview
Almost eerily identical to Evernote, the opening user menu of Take a Note gives you options to add a text note, an audio note, a drawing note, and a photo note. All notes that are created on the iPhone are editable, sortable, and searchable. WiFi access gives you the option to transfer notes to and from your computer or other wireless enabled sources. Yowza!! – Location Based Coupons

We recently heard about a pretty cool application called Yowza!! Yowza!! is a location based coupon application. Not only does it display deals that are near your location, it also has the ability to display/scan coupons right on your iPhone or iPod Touch’s screen…which I honestly will have to see to believe but will be totally psyched if it works…I have always wanted to do that!! The app will also allow you to save previously searched for coupons in a “digital wallet” for future use. You can find out more about Yowza!! on their website. There is no ETA on when the app will be available in the App Store, though you can sign up on their website to be notified once it is. We do know that it will be free! So, that is cool!

Valentine Rating – Star Rating Mod

Valentine’s Day is less than a week a way (I hope all you guys are preparing!!) and if you are looking for one more way to get into the holiday spirit…this just might be the mod for you! Valentine Rating is a rating star mod. When you delete an App Store app off of your iPhone or iPod Touch, you get the chance to give it a 1-5 star rating. This mod changes the those stars to red hearts. It is available through the ModMyi source and is activated via Cydia.

Remember: Guys, if you are getting your special someone some sort of technology for Valentine’s Day, make sure you throw in a box of chocolates or some flowers too. Take it from a girl who gets technology for almost every Holiday! :)

Google Sync for Mobile – Sync your iPhone or iPod Touch’s Calendar and Contacts with Google

It’s about time!!!! You can now sync your iPhone or iPod Touch with your Google Calendar and Gmail’s contacts. You’re going to want to export all your contacts on your iPhone first so you can import them into Gmail. Otherwise Gmail will write over them the first time. Same thing with your calendar. I’m going to test this out tonight and let you know how it goes but I gotta get to my computer to back up my contacts and calendar first. BlueIslandLock – Lock Screen from the Blue-Island Theme

Last week, I wrote about a theme called Blue-Island. The theme itself did not work unless you had a French iPhone or iPod Touch however, you were able to use the lock screen from the theme if you listed things correctly in WinterBoard. Well, it seems the developer has made it easy on us and released just the lock screen part of the theme! PwnCenter and Steffwiz Source Updates

Both the PwnCenter and Steffwiz sources were “updated” in Cydia. The update adds the Steffwiz source into the PwnCenter source. When you install the PwnCenter source package (version 0-1) in Cydia, it will remove the Steffwiz source from your iPhone or iPod Touch. The source url for the PwnCenter source has not changed, it just now adds all the Steffwiz apps into the PwnCenter source.
