SBSettings Update

SBSettings SBSettings has been updated a few times since last night. The 3.0.2 update fixes the Free Memory feature that apparently was not working due to a copying error when packaging the file (and I thought I was crazy this whole time!). I did test this and it does work now. The 3.0.2 update also makes the app a little harder to open. This is implemented to help from accidental opening of SBSettings. You now need to swipe at least 50 pixels in order to open the app. I personally liked this change however, it seems that not everyone was as thrilled about it as I was so SBSettings was updated to version 3.0.3. RedLaser – Scan Barcodes and Get Realtime Prices

RedLaser RedLaser is an application that scans the barcode of a product and then searches for that product and it’s prices.

When you open the app, you can begin by scanning an item. To do so just select the lighting icon on the lower menu bar which will open a screen where you can scan the barcode. You will need to line up the edges of the bar code within the arrows… the bar code needs to be upright. Once the edges are lined up, the arrows will turn green. Hold it still a split second longer (after the arrows are green) and it will automatically scan the barcode. It can be a little tricky at first but, after a few tries you will have it down. Steampunk – WinterBoard Theme

Steampunk steampunk3 Steampunk is a WinterBoard theme that contains 217 icons, a dock, badges, sliders, lock screen battery, lock screen background, wallpaper…etc. Due to the design of the dock, the theme looks the best with only three rows of icons or four rows of icons without the icon label’s turned off. Also, this is an Italian theme so, many of the icons need to be renamed (see list below for details). Other than that, it does contain some pretty cool icons. qTweeter qTweeter, a Twitter application, has been updated to version 2.0. The update adds a new feature – video. The really cool part is that you can send a video tweet not only from an iPhone 3GS but also an iPhone 3G and a first gen iPhone (on the 3.0 firmware)! Very cool. [Read more…]

iTypeFastR – Additional Keyboard – Now 3.0 Compatible

iTypeFastR I remember iTypeFastR, an additional keyboard, from the 2.x days (though, I don’t remember it being a paid app back then) and it seems the app has been updated to version 1.2.1 which now supports the 3.0 firmware. Once installed, you have a 21 day trial in which to test out the keyboard after that, the app must be registered for $3.99 USD.

To activate iTypeFastR, open the keyboard and select the Globe icon in the lower left corner. This will bring you to the iTypeFastR keyboard. To get back to your stock keyboard, go into the number section of the iTypeFastR keyboard and then select the Globe icon. [Read more…]

Artwork and Illustrator – Wallpaper Pack

Artwork and Illustrator 2300797742_6f31b3116f It has been a while since I have seen a decent wallpaper pack but, Artwork and Illustrator was recently released and is pretty good. It contains 11 wallpapers that are either artwork on created in Illustrator. I’m not a fan of all of them but, a few of them are pretty cool. Take a look at the screenshots below to see if you like any of them. Remember, when you install this wallpaper pack, the wallpapers are added to your stock Settings application under Wallpapers. Find In Page – Safari Bookmark for Searching Webpages

FindInPage Find In Page (FindInPage for 2.x firmware), a Safari bookmark that allows you to search a web page, has been updated to work specifically with the 3.0 firmware. This mod does not add an icon to your SpringBoard but instead adds a bookmark in Safari. To use the Find In Page bookmark, go to a web page in Safari, then select the icon on the lower menu bar that looks like a book. This will bring up a list of your bookmarks. Supreme Preferences Three I started this review before we went on vacation last week and didn’t get a chance to finish it… that it why you are just getting it now.

If you have been on AppleiPhoneSchool.com for a while now, you probably already know my feelings on Supreme Preference type applications… I am very leery of them, always test them on a test device and hardly ever put them on my personal iPhone. Ghost Ice – WinterBoard Theme

Ghost Ice ghosticetheme4 Ghost Ice is a WinterBoard theme that contains a wallpaper, dock, sliders, lock screen background, 42 icons, lock screen battery and a few other small mods. As with most themes, this one does take a little ssh work to get it to look completely correct. Because this theme is from a primarily French repository, some of the icons need to be renamed (from French to English). You can ssh into the Library/Themes/Ghost-Ice.theme/Icons folder and rename the following three icons; Calendrier to Calendar, Horloge to Clock and Appareil photo to Camera. Lexulous – Triple Word Score for Double Letter Price

Lexulous I was late to the Facebook game, and although I do enjoy a good status update every now and then, I am definitely not a FB addict. One of the things I constantly hear from other friends who are self described addicts is how much time they spend playing games online. We’re not talking huge video games like Quake or Call of Duty, but rather simple ones like Boggle or Poker. One of the most popular games was Scrabulous, a Scrabble knockoff that got some interesting press a few months ago when Hasbro decided that they wanted to make some money on their game title. Five Icon Dock Update

Five Icon Dock A few days ago there was an update to the Five Icon Dock mod…sorry, I forgot to write about it! I know some of you are having issues with the Five Icon Dock mod on the 3.x firmware which honestly, I think it weird because i haven’t had any problems with it on any of our test iPhone’s or our personal iPhones. FaceMic Update – Sweet New Features

FaceMic Today, there was an update to FaceMic, an app that allows you to record audio and then send it straight to your Facebook page (posting it on your “wall”). The update adds quite a few new features (see change log below). FontSwap Update – Fixes Default Alignment Issues

FontSwap The update to version 1.5 of FontSwap does a few things. First off, it adds a new Restore Default Fonts option which allows you to change all fonts back to default at once (instead of having to go into each option and change them back to default one at a time). It also fixes the default alignment issues. Now, when you go back to the default system font, the badge, time…etc are all aligned correctly. YAY! [Read more…]

iSummer Theme – WinterBoard Theme (SBSettings Theme)

iSummer isummertheme iSummer is a nice WinterBoard theme that contains slides, a dock, status bar, badges, dialer, pop-up mod, wallpaper, 64 icons…etc. It is a dark theme but, it is well designed. I did notice that the theme folder has an icons2 folder with more icons in it. So, if you are ssh savvy, you can ssh into the Library/Theme/iSummer 2.0/icons2 folder and copy out all the icons and add them to the Library/Themes/iSummer 2.0/Icons folder. This theme also has a matching SBSettings theme. You can get both the iSummer Theme and the iSummer SBS Theme via the BigBoss source. [Read more…]
