Apple has released firmware 3.1 beta 3 to developers. The firmware has been found to have a few cool new features (see list below).
Note: If you are a developer, you will need to update to 3.1 beta 3 before July 29th because 3.1 beta 2 expires at midnight on the 28th.
• Copy and paste videos – You can now copy and paste videos in your e-mails. There is a 15 MB limit for copying/pasting videos or images. This limit is most likely there to save bandwidth usage (see demo video below).
• Tethering counter – If you go to Settings -> Genral -> Usage on your iPhone, you’ll notice Tethering data which shows how much tethering you’ve used. Note: Tethering is not available to AT&T users yet.
• Springboard icons – When you hold down the Springboard icons they no longer vibrate.
• Baseband updated – The baseband has been updated to 05.11.04.

BigBoss recently released a new source in Cydia, bigbossbetarepo. The source will contain beta/alpha/test applications. This is not a repo that everyone will want to install. If you install the source, you need to be willing to test applications and give feedback about there performance. Because the apps released in this repository are test and beta, they do have the possibility of crashing your iPhone or iPod Touch (thus, requiring a restore). 
iProtect is a recently released security application for your iPhone or iPod Touch. It allows you to password protect applications, lock your SIM, disable the ability to move icons around on the SpringBoard, disable the application to delete application off the SprigBoard and the ability to disable the Home Button double-tap.

SMS Balloon Colors is an application that will add five SMS balloon themes into WinterBoard. The five color schemes include; Blue & Gray, Lite Blue & Lite Pink, Orange & Yellow, Pink & Purple and Red & Brown. Below are screenshots of each of the color schemes. Anonymous is an application that allows you to send anonymous emails. Once you install the application, and accept the agreement, you can enter the From Name, From email address, Subject, To Name and To Email address. Once all fields have been filled, select Next. This will bring you to a screen where you can enter the body of your message. After you have entered your text, select Send and your email will be sent. 
Inspell is adds an additional spell checker to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Once installed, the app is well implemented and very easy to use.
