Reflective Dock – via Cydia

Reflective Dock We have written about how to get a reflective dock using shh. However, if you are looking for a way to get a reflective dock for your iPhone or iPod Touch through Cydia, here is a way. You will need to add a new source to Cydia (check out THIS article if you need instructions on how to add a source to Cydia). The source you will need to add is: david.ashman.com/apt/ After your sources have refreshed, you will see that a new package has been added to your iPhone called ReflectiveDock. Once installed, you will have a reflective dock. It does add two options to Winterboard, No Dock Reflections and Dock Reflections however, I have found that it is not affected by being turned on/off in WinterBoard…it is just always on unless you specifically select No Dock Reflections. LiveTime – Animated Clock Icon

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

LiveTime LiveTime is an application that animates and updates the clock icon on your SpringBoard…allowing it to continually display the current time. When you install LiveTime, it will automatically begin to animate your clock icon. The hour and minute hand will show the current time and the second hand will move accordingly. Now, when you first install the application, it is an overlay on your stock icon. So, you will see the stock time (10:15 and 0 seconds) underneath the animated clock. However, when you installed LiveTime, it also added a theme to WinterBoard titled; LiveTime Clock. If you go into WinterBoard and activate the theme, it will change the icon so that you only see the animated clock. [Read more…]

Lock Calendar – Display Calendar Events on Lock Screen

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Lock Calendar Lock Calendar is a simple application that allows you to display your upcoming calendar events on your lock screen. I know there are a few other applications that also allow for this functionality on firmware 2.x (IntelliScreen, RemindYou) however, both are paid applications. Lock Calendar is free. When you install Lock Calendar, your events will automatically start to display on your lock screen…you do not turn the app on via WinterBoard. It will display your next ten upcoming events. The events are categorized by date and also display the time and title of the event. The app has a decent design and showed up nicely on all the wallpapers that I tested. [Read more…]

MiZoo – iZoo Clone…Similar to Bejeweled

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

MiZoo Guys, I cannot even tell you how stoked I was when Lazrhog wrote me a few days ago and told me that MiZoo would be coming to the App Store! iZoo (also developed by Lazrhog) was like one of my all time favorite apps from back in the 1.1.4 and below jailbreak days (ohhh…the good ol’ days!). So, as you can image I was very excited to test this one out.

When you open MiZoo, you get the main menu with the options; New Game, Settings and Worldwide Scores. In the Settings, you have the option to enter the name in which you will use in the Worldwide High Score table. The Worldwide Scores option will bring you to a high score table (which opens right in the app). To begin playing, select New Game. [Read more…]

2nd Gen iPod Touch Jailbreak Screenshot

Dev Team It seems they (the Dev Team) are getting closer to the 2nd Generation iPod Touch jailbreak. They recently posted the first screenshot of a jailbroke 2nd gen iPod Touch on their website. However, it seems that the process has not yet been perfected and isn’t quite ready for public release. So far, there is no ETA on when the jailbreak will be available. Below is what the Dev Team has to say about it and the screenshot.

WinterBoard Themes – Themes, Key Highlight Mods and a Wallpaper Pack

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterBoard I’m still catching up on all the themes/mods that have been released lately. But, I got through another section of them and below are a few I thought I would mention. There are 4 themes, 3 key highlight mods and one wallpaper pack. The four themes include; Pump (via Sleepers.net), CLoud9 (via BigBoss), Abeo Alistair (via MacCiti) and Flat (via MacCiti). The key highlight mods will change the color of the keys on the keyboard when you select them. The three shown in the screenshots below include; Purple and Pink Highlight Keys, Camo Highlight Keys and Red and Black Highlight Keys…all of which are available through the Sleepers.net source. I actually really like key highlight mods…it is so weird to see a different color when you type! The wallpaper pack, MoMa Pack 1 (via MacCiti) contains eight unique wallpapers. See all the screenshots below. [Read more…]

Maintenance Mode

AiS For those of you who did not see the Maintenance Mode page last night or this morning, here is a quick update. Last night Doug decided to do the unthinkable and upgrade our WordPress to the newest version!

Well, it seems that upgrading has done a little bit of damage to our Admin Panel…ok, quite a bit of damage. At the moment we are unable to write posts or pages when all plugins are active (we have just over 30 active plugins). This is very not good and is the reason for the lack of articles yesterday and today…I had to put the site into Maintenance Mode in order to write this post.

We are doing our best to get it fixed and should hopefully have everything back to normal by tonight. On a positive note, once it is fixed, it does mean we are one step closer to implementing the new site!

So, while you wait, just mosey around the site and see if you find anything new and interesting.

P.S. Happy Friday!

2nd Gen iPod Touch Jailbreak Coming Soon?

DevTeam The Dev Team has left yet another cryptic message on their website today. It leads one to believe that we might soon be seeing a jailbreak for the 2nd generation iPod Touch.

I know this has been long awaited so, we will have to wait and see what happens.

As of now, the only clue we get is an abstract image on redsn0w.

com. Below is the message from the Dev Team…to see the image head over to redsn0w.com. We will keep you updated on any changes. [Read more…]

Banner Deluxe – Create Scrolling Banners

Available In: App Store       Price: $2.99

Banner Deluxe I will be honest, when I read the title of this application I said to myself…Here we go, another “toy” application that probably has a bad design and a horrible user interface. However, I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I opened the application! Banner Deluxe is an application that allows you to create scrolling banners for your iPhone or iPod Touch.

The first thing I noticed about the application was that it was well designed and had quite a few nice features. As I began testing the application, I also found the user interface to be very smooth and easy to use. The application opens to the Settings Menu in which there is a lower menu bar with the options; Text, Theme, Backdrop, Font, Text Texture and Option. In the Text option, you are able to enter the message that you would like to scroll or choose from the list of previously entered messages. To enter a message, just tap on the text bar. You can also add symbols to your message by selecting the smiley icon in the upper right corner, once you have tapped in the text bar. Once you have entered your message, you can get back to the Settings Menu by selecting Return. [Read more…]

Instinctiv Shuffle – An iPod “smart shuffle” application

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Instinctiv Shuffle Instinctiv Shuffle was released a few days ago for firmware 2.x. It looks, functions and has the same user interface as the previous version of the application that was available for firmware 1.1.4 and below. For those of you who are not familiar with Instinctiv Shuffle, it is a “smart shuffle” application. When you install Instinctiv Shuffle and turn it on, it replaces the shuffle feature in your iPod with Instinctiv Shuffle. It then uses an “…advanced AI to analyze what music you want to hear based on the songs you skip and the ones you don’t. Within just a few skips, we can play only the right songs that fit your current mood and activity. Based on skipping behavior, Instinctiv Shuffle™ anticipates what you want to hear next.” [Read more…]
