I remember iTypeFastR, an additional keyboard, from the 2.x days (though, I don’t remember it being a paid app back then) and it seems the app has been updated to version 1.2.1 which now supports the 3.0 firmware. Once installed, you have a 21 day trial in which to test out the keyboard after that, the app must be registered for $3.99 USD.
To activate iTypeFastR, open the keyboard and select the Globe icon in the lower left corner. This will bring you to the iTypeFastR keyboard. To get back to your stock keyboard, go into the number section of the iTypeFastR keyboard and then select the Globe icon. [Read more…]
Supreme Preferences Three – Additional Settings for the iPhone and iPod Touch
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
I started this review before we went on vacation last week and didn’t get a chance to finish it… that it why you are just getting it now.
If you have been on AppleiPhoneSchool.com for a while now, you probably already know my feelings on Supreme Preference type applications… I am very leery of them, always test them on a test device and hardly ever put them on my personal iPhone. So, when I saw that Supreme Preferences Three had been released, I was skeptical once again. Supreme Preferences Three boasts that it gives your iPhone and/or iPod Touch 100 new features. I am not going to run through all 100 feature but, I will give you some of them and then you can see the rest in the screenshots. [Read more…]
Lockdown – Password Protect Your Applications
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
Lockdown, is an application that allows you to password protect other applications (stock, App Store and jailbroke) on your iPhone or iPod Touch. I haven’t done a review of this Lockdown since it was first released. However, I received an email saying that it has been updated and is now working with the 3.0 firmware (which it is).
The UI of the app has changed a little since my first review of the app but, other than that…it is basically the same. You are able to password protect stock, App Store and jailbroke apps that are on your device. A few of the new features I noticed is a Locked Apps option which allows you to quickly view all the apps that are locked, instead of having to scroll through the list of them to find which ones are locked. FontSwap Update – Fixes Default Alignment Issues
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
The update to version 1.5 of FontSwap does a few things. First off, it adds a new Restore Default Fonts option which allows you to change all fonts back to default at once (instead of having to go into each option and change them back to default one at a time). It also fixes the default alignment issues. Now, when you go back to the default system font, the badge, time…etc are all aligned correctly. YAY! [Read more…]
QuickShottr SBSettings Toggle
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
This SBSettings toggle allows you to turn on/off the QuickShottr mod. QuickShottr is a mod that; “As soon as you take a screenshot of your iPhone screen using the home/power quick tap method, QuickShottr uploads it directly to ImageShack and copies the link to the image into your clipboard, so you can paste it in any application you want.” However, the toggle seems to be stuck toggled off. Every time I go into SBSetting, the toggle is off and even if I toggle it back on, it automatically toggle off as soon as I close SBSettings. Thus, I am unable to use the QuickShottr mod at all because it is always toggled off. [Read more…]
Install More Than 180 Apps, Then Launch From Spotlight
David Pogue, the tech columnist for the New York Times, recent tweeted that you can install more than 180 apps on your iPhone and then access them via Spotlight search:
You can install UNLIMITED APPS! Only 180 show up as icons—but Spotlight can find and open all of them! (And yes, we tried. Stopped at 250!)
The only problem I see to this is that if you install your 181th app, you won’t be able to move it to a page to organize your apps since you can’t see it on any of your home screens. You’d also have to uninstall the app via iTunes on your computer because you can’t see it to tap and hold on it if you wanted to uninstall. [Read more…]

vWallpaper (video wallpaper application) and SkrewCommom for Firmware 3.0
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
Some of you might remember the app vWallpaper, an application that enables video wallpapers. I honestly haven’t written about the app is quite some time however, people are wondering if it has been updated for the 3.0 firmware yet. A few days ago, the developer released a beta version of both SkrewCommon (a code app that is needed in order to run vWallpaper) and vWallpaper. It is a manually install and there are a few bugs still such as; the device will not go into sleep mode and sometimes the video wallpaper will not restart after closing an application. If you would like to give it a try, check out THIS post for the links and instructions.
Backgrounder Update
Available In: Cydia | Price: Free |
When I saw an update to Backgrounder, a mod that allows apps to run in the background, I was like…YES! I thought we were going to get some of the old features back but, the update just fixes a bug in which some apps were not restoring properly. I know, I was totally bummed too. I could really use the SpringBoard badge that indicates when an app is running…I have a feeling I have left a few running on accident! You can get Backgrounder via the BigBoss source. [Read more…]
